CAIRO Quoting from the Quran for emphasis, President Barack Obama called for a "new beginning between the United States and Muslims" Thursday and said together, they could confront violent extremism across the globe and advance the timeless search for peace in the Middle East.
"This cycle of suspicion and discord must end," Obama said in a widely anticipated speech in one of the world's largest Muslim countries, an address designed to reframe relations after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and the U.S.-led war in Iraq.
The White House said Obama's speech contained no new policy proposals on the Middle East. He said American ties with Israel are unbreakable, yet issued a firm, evenhanded call to the Jewish state and Palestinians alike to live up to their international obligations.
In a gesture to the Islamic world, Obama conceded at the beginning of his remarks that tension "has been fed by colonialism that denied rights and opportunities to many Muslims, and a Cold War in which Muslim-majority countries were often treated as proxies without regard to their own aspirations."
"And I consider it part of my responsibility as president of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear," said the president, who recalled hearing prayer calls of "azaan" at dawn and dusk while living in Indonesia as a boy.
At the same time, he said the same principle must apply in reverse. "Just as Muslims do not fit a crude stereotype, America is not the crude stereotype of a self-interested empire."
Obama's remarks were televised on all radio and television stations in Israel, and with Arabic voice-over translations by Arab satellite stations Al-Arabiya and Al-Jazeera, Egyptian TV and Al-Manar, an outlet for the militant group Hezbollah.

I used to scoff, then I began to joke about it nervously, and now I'm really thinking there's something to that claim!
Keep your eye on the URI (United Religions Initiative). Bambi is probably not going to become (or go back to being) a Muslim, but instead wants to start a whole new syncretist cult, which of course is exactly what any good anti-Christ would do. The URI was heavily sponsored by leftists in the Episcopal Church and the World Council of Churches (I know a wealthy Episcopalian on the West Coast who is constantly being stalked by its fundraisers in her wealthy, liberal Episcopal church). It came out of the same movement that resulted in the foundation of the UN, and has been around for a long time, but just recently seems to have revived and gotten a real bounce.
I don't know if Bambi has any formal connection with it, but it wouldn't surprise me.
lol...so if it weren't for those darn Euro/American colonialists the Muslim world would be a veritable human rights mecca, eh Hussein? B.O. is essentially telling the Islamics they're justified in blaming all their problems on the West.
"And I consider it part of my responsibility as president of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear,"
Those stereotypes exist because 99.999% of all acts of terrorism are committed by Muslims -- there's no way to spin the facts, Barry. The (negative) view of the Islamic world didn't just materialize for no reason.
But I get sick to my stomach listening to either of them; just waiting to see the return of 15% inflation and 24% prime lending rate....and gas lines.

It is worse than incredible. It is embarrassing!!!!

Here’s a newsflash for you, Alien Overlord: your crazy co-religionists flew American planes into American skyscrapers.
Go make nice with the Ditzy chicks, then you can all drop dead.
Dear FRiend,
While triangulation is a good strategy, I would MUCH rather triangulate with the Chinese against the bloody Mahometan savages. At this point, we have a lot more in common with the Chinese than with murderous 7th century throwbacks.
If this were the case, we’d side with the bloody Mahometan savages, no because we have more in common with them, but because, if we won, we might have a better chance of crushing them later. The outcome of a US-PRC alliance against the Caliphate would likely be world-dominating PRC.
Why should the United States try to appease the Muslims? Isn’t it the job of government to work with other governments — not religions?
