Pure cover for 0be since Holder hasn’t been able to dump the majority of the Gitmo campers in Europe.
We, the people of the United States...
BTTT
I don’t know what to think. I am thinking that we should be jumping for joy that the Senators had enough sense to turn down this stupid idea but then I am angry that they even considered the idea!
A resounding defeat: 90-6
Well GITMO is officially the sole problem of the Socialist Democrat Party now.
A resounding defeat for Obama...
I wonder if the Senate knows the public will be furious if they bring this islamist scum to the USA? Are they thinking about the 2010 elections? I bet Hairy Reid is.
One could be Feinstein. I heard some comments she made and I would think from that she would be one of the six.
Hugo - er, I mean, Barry - isn’t going to like this.
Once the legislature started to oppose Hugo Chavez, he focused all his attention on it and essentially was able to get it to rewrite its procedural rules, restructure itself, and, of course, with the help of a lot of cheating, get a Hugo-favorable majority. At the same time, he was restructuring the judiciary and getting rid of people there who still wanted to abide by the law and not let Hugo be a law unto himself.
We have a more established system, and while procedural rule manipulation and vote fraud can end up making things more favorable for anything Obama wants, I think he’s going to have a harder time than Hugo in getting complete control over the other branches of government. Not to say he won’t try, of course.
HIP HIP...
Crap........I was hoping they’d go to Washington or Oregon, or better yet.........Massachusettes.
IMHO the I in C wanted this vote.
He stuck his finger in the wind, saw the public set against turning the prisoners loose and is using the vote to avoid keeping his promise.
It’s just political cover for Obama.
A complete win-win.

Fresh blow for Obama after Senate defeat over Guantánamo Bay
President Obamas high-profile pledge to shut Guantánamo Bay was shot down by his own party today when Senate Democrats voted to block the transfer of detainees and refused to pay for the closure.
The blow is the latest setback for the Obama Administration, which has already disappointed supporters by announcing that controversial military tribunals for detainees, set up by President Bush but halted by Mr Obama on taking office, will be re-started.
Senators denied the request for $80 million to move the 240 detainees from the US military base in Cuba. They also voted 90 to six to prevent the Administration from transferring any of the facilitys prisoners to the US. ...
I think they are letting this be blocked because all who vote for this are political toast.
