"Fr. Norm" - 80-Year-Old Priest Arrsted, Jailed at Notre Dame
YouTube ^ | May 16, 2009 | Pass the Salt

Posted on 05/16/2009 6:57:23 AM PDT by Mrs. Don-o

Here is the video of Fr. Norm Weslin's arrest by University of Notre Dame police. He was carrying a cross and singing a hymn in honor of the mother of Jesus Christ ---"Our Lady" -- "Notre Dame."

What evil deed did they think he was going to do if they didn't arrest him: launch a devastatng, full-scale Rosary barrage?

I went to the CNN site. I don’t see ND website listed under blogs talking about the issue

If Obama had any sense of propriety, he'd thank Notre Dame for the invite, then say that his scheduled appearance there was obviously divisive and he'd withdraw. But he's going just so that he can show those hicks who cling to their religion that he's the boss.

I think he's doing it to sow division among Catholics. We already know that the 'social justice' Catholics supported him. Maybe he thinks that by coming to Notre Dame and causing all this ruckus, he'll turn those Catholics who voted for him even MORE against faithful Catholics, and the Bishops who have denounced his being given an Honorary Degree by ND.

CNN’s report was distorted and fraudulent, which one could have predicted.
They framed it in terms of free speech, as if Notre Dame is the govt and 0bama’s rights are being imperiled.
Then they offered the false analogy of Reagan and Bush being invited, yet accepting capital punishment which the Church forbids. That isn’t true, it isn’t doctrine; and there is no equality between innocent babies and convicted criminals.

Quite predictable. Quite shallow. Quite expected.

I emailed Notre Dame's director of security...

Names. We need their names.

Thamk you for the Solzhenitisyn reference. He also said this which should make us fear for our future:

“The strength or weakness of a society depends more on the level of its spiritual life than on its level of industrialization. Neither a market economy nor even general abundance constitutes the crowning achievement of human life.

If a nation’s spiritual energies have been exhausted, it will not be saved from collapse by the most perfect government structure or by any industrial development.”

Yaelle, Fr Norm was aware of what could happen.

Some things are worth fighting for.

Tying a frail old man’s hands behind him and putting him on the ground...for trespassing, yet?

We should all send a doll of Minnie Mouse holding a small sprig of lavender to the ND security cops.

There’s no excuse for that sort of jackbooted intimidation. I guess we’re all Nazis now. This time, though, it looks like they’ll be coming for the Christians first instead of the Jews.

Outrage needs to be directed at the ND administration. The better question is why they choose to arrest peaceful people who are standing in agreement with church teaching?

As Father said. “They’ve got it all backwards.”

We really need to come to grips with the fact that when people throw in with people like the Klintstones or the Bamalamadingdong, they have thrown in with Satan.

And yes, I am serious about that.

Liberalism has worked its “magic” on all of the Ivy League schools. All, or most, of them began as deeply religious, Christian colleges. Sadly, it happens.

No, I'm not going to blame Obama for accepting this gig, the fault lies totally on the shoulders of that miserable sob Jenkins and the board of ND. The division between Catholics has been around since Vatican II. Fear of the Church breaking apart has allowed cafeteria Catholics to belittle conservative Catholics and has allowed maverick priests to push their Marxist teachings and water down Catholic doctrine. I firmly wish the Holy Father was 50 years old as a man like him is about the only one that might have a chance to turn it around.

This just reported.

Not sure if it is true.

I think Fox News would tell us if they were threatened.

Other news: A journalist told a StopObamNotreDame official that the University threatened to "cut the feed" of any network that covers disruptions during Obama's address.
