I'm surprised the guy got himself elected Governor of Utah, I would argue they're more socially conservative than even South Carolina. The 1912 election makes for interesting reading because you can determine not just which states were the most Republican at the time, but which were the most conservative. Taft was more conservative than Teddy Roosevelt, and both were to the right of socialist Woodrow Wilson. Since Teddy was more popular than Taft at the time, most people who didn't like Wilson just voted for TR, but the most conservative voters in the country stuck with Taft. You can look at what percentage Taft got in each state as a measure of the strength of the hard conservative vote as it existed in 1912. Taft won only two states -- Utah and Vermont (Vermont has since gone 180o degrees in the other direction and their politicians are now to the left of many Dems nationally).

I guess I was absent the day that they said that Republican is the same as Conservative. However, I have a feeling I’m wasting electrons on this point...

Hey, Kentucky has its beauty, as well.
You have trees. Lots of trees. I forget what a desert I live in here until I go back East and see lush vegetation. My wife is from Tennessee, and we lived there for five years, so I remember the greenery.
The one thing I don’t miss: humidity.
But I DO love our mountains. As a flatlander kid from Iowa, I fell in love with these mountains.

IIRC they have already sharply reduced thier underwriting our Republics debt, Hillary's pleadings notwithstanding.
Not that no class axelrod would try and pin it on Huntsman

My best guess is the Obamination sees China as becoming a huge political problem for us by the 2012 election, and he wants a Republican to blame it on.
