Limbaugh makes millions for being wrong (While I toil away at 7-11 and opine from Mom's basement!)
The Augusta Chronicle ^ | May 9, 2009 | Nathan Kirby

Posted on 05/09/2009 1:46:53 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh signed an eight-year, $400 million contract in 2008 with Clear Channel Communications! In terms even I can understand, that's $50 million a year -- not to mention tens of millions more in endless endorsements.

I've just got to ask: Why on God's green Earth does he make so much money? Yes, I realize Limbaugh is the de facto Führer of the Republican Party. Yet, as far as I can tell, he's making well over half-a-billion dollars the next eight years for doing nothing more than always being wrong.

Didn't Limbaugh predict the invasion of Iraq would be smooth sailing? Didn't Limbaugh parrot Bush every time he said, "The fundamentals of the economy are strong" -- all the way up to and over the economic collapse cliff, in September 2008? In January 2009, didn't Limbaugh predict the apocalypse if President Obama's economic plans were passed by the majority-Democrat Congress?

Then, on May 5, didn't Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, a Republican, predict the economy would be out of recession by fall 2009? Jobless claims are dropping. Retail sales are improving. Thus, the stock market has been positive the past two months.

So, where's this apocalypse we were all dying for?

I'm sorry, but as the rational human being bank-rolling him, I would absolutely have to know that Limbaugh has been right about one, single, teensy-weensy thing in order to have completely justified his $400-million-plus goldmine jackpot.

Jealous? You bet your sweet, sweet apple I am! Hey, I'm wrong all the time, too. Quick -- someone write me a check for $400 million and I'll be as wrong as you want for as long as you want. Heck, I'll even go one better. I'll be wrong and over the moon to get paid a measly 1 percent of that amount for my magnificently selfless services.

Sounds like Kirby is jealous. He needs to worry more about him and less about Rush.

Sell as much soap as he does and you can get paid as much as he does.

Why on God's green Earth does he make so much money?

Because he is very intellegent, very entertaining, understands how normal Americans think and is not a left wing, coolaide drinking, complaining weeny.

Well, it's easy to see why he thinks Rush is wrong all the time. lol.

"Jealous? You bet your sweet, sweet apple I am! Hey, I'm wrong all the time, too."

I don't know the guy. But, guessing from reading this piece, this statement is probably about as accurate as he ever gets, and that's because of the topic - himself.

The truth? He gets off on being as controversial as possible. What the truth is—doesn’t matter. My cred? Let me say that I have NEVER in my long life voted Democratic in a national election. That said, and as much as I disagree with Obama on some things, two things seem clear at this point if you’re actually willing to be honest. 1) The Republicans who just left created an unbelievable mess with their irrational thinking and their reliance on prayer and faith instead of fact gathering and logic. THey’ve turned off much of the country and apparently are going to continue to do so. They were incompetent. 2) Obama seems to me to be one of the few people actually concerned about the country in a non-partisan manner. We are in a grave crisis. We need people to step up. From Pelosi to Limbaugh to the Repubs in the minority, everyone else is maneuvering for position while the country is in a very serious crisis. That doesn’t mean Obama is infallible or right about everything. His deficit proposals are to my mind a big mistake. But at least he is trying. People like Limbaugh—all they care about is publicity and getting themselves into the right position to acquire more money and / or power at the expense of the country. We are in too much trouble to continue to function this way.

Why on God's green Earth does he make so much money?

Because he is talented and people are willing to pay to hear him exercise his talent.

Go hone your talent and people will do the same to you.

PS Whining is not a talent.

Actually my “friend”, Rush has worked hard over the last 40 years to get where he is today. I think the one who’s wrong is you...IDIOT!

Not that there's anything wrong with it but what product does he endorse besides the sponsors of his shows?

Yeah, #73 sounds like that Seminar Caller ad that runs on the Dittocam all the time...”I love your show, and I always agree with you. And, I voted for Bush.”
