In recent reports, they actually confirm a 15.2% true rate when counting the ‘unemployed discouraged’ and the settlin-for-part-time people.

If the economy recovers, the population will reward the democrats with their trust and let them pass all their socialist agenda. If the economy instead gets worse, the population is more likely to resist it and throw them out of office at the next election.

So...all those communist countries when they had nothing to eat voted back in the conservatives....

I have been watching the markets closely for weeks and I have noticed a strange pattern: Whenever there is bad news about the economy, the market goes up (today), yet on days when their is no bad news (yesterday), the market drops. What gives?

Seems like the market is being manipulated?

I can verify that you are a longterm Boston resident.

Correct. Thusly the fall of the Soviet Union.

“Job openings are like musical chairs.”

Your premise is wrong. There are not a fixed number of chairs. Chairs are being pulled out from under people sitting in them without that chair being returned to the game. Not a very good analogy in my opinion.

None of it makes sense to me...and that is why I am not involved in my own investments in any way shape or form... LOL. Leave that to close family friend.

This is the cooked number, isn’t it? Where do we see the real deal?

No cooked numbers, just an error of ommission, i.e. nobody's asking how many jobs were created in the same time period.

“That’s what I was thinking. This is for “claims.” What about the self employed?”

.
I do not think self-employed are counted. Been trying to find out definitely, but no luck yet.

As for cooked data, the people who posted that U6 is the ‘true’ unemployment rate, they are correct. Clinton/Greenspan ‘enhanced’ the calculation of unemployment. As a result the current U6 ~ the pre-Clinton/Greenspan U3.

“hairs are being pulled out from under people sitting in them without that chair being returned to the game.”

.
This sounds more like what I’m seeing. People collecting unemployment who were once proud that they NEVER collected before - but they have family to care for. People have to supplement unemployment with savings whose value has plummeted. Stores and businesses that have been around for decades closing. People who are still working either not having a raise in several years or taking pay cuts.

Mind you these are not people who have massive credit card debt, or live beyond their means, or do not take responsibility for their actions.

You have it wrong. If the economy tanks the people will want more socialism. If the economy recovers, and it will, the people will boot out the tax and spenders. The uS economy is greater than obamas actions.

I guess that's why Jimmy Carter got reelected, huh?

Quit your job right now and join the ranks of the unemployed to further the process of "righting the system". Somehow I don't think you will.

I was let go from the company where I worked over a year ago and have been unemployed ever since then. I was an independent contractor at that company, so I couldn't collect unemployment when I was let go. At this point I'm living off a little bit of savings that I had. I'm intentionally not looking for work right now to do my part to "starve the beast" by reducing tax collections by the government. There are some of us out here that aren't just all talk and no action.

Right on tc45a. The desire to tank the economy under the assumption it will further the Conservative cause is just plain nuts. People are sucked into socialism when times are tough.

I for one always root for the US and our economy, regardless of who is President. If we want Conservatives elected, we need to find a good spokesman for our cause, someone like Reagan. THAT’S our problem right now; no solid voice.

The market prices in what it expects the news to be. If it is “less worse” than expected (as has been the trend of late), the market goes up.

The fact you lost your job sucks. That said, intentionally not looking for work to "starve the beast" is a puzzling decision. Our economy is NOT directed by the government...it's directed by the productivity of the American people. What will you do when you run out of savings?

Per BLS, the only increase in employment was in Government (+72,000) and Education and health services (+15,000).

Like gun control, freedom of speech repealed etc.

That way insurrection can not take place when his own party realizes what he is dong to the Union?

Me thinks that the Obots may not drink that much kool-aid. They are going to be pissed, you can only say “Bush’s fault” so many times.
He is buying this mess and is going to have to take the hit for it eventually.

So what happens when you run out of money? Who is going to feed your face? Who are you going to have to beg or mooch off of if you stick to your principles and don't ask for gov't help?

What happens when your healthcare runs out and you accidently chop off your arm cutting your firewood? Who will pay for that?

I have found out over the years the people who want us to have a economic armegeddon and resulting revolution usually have nothing to lose. They have no worthwhile possessions, no family or solid relationships(or no family that wants anything to do with them)and they want everyone to be brought down to their economic level to make themselves feel better for their shortcomings.

I'm not saying any poster we have been conversing with is like this but this is my normal findings.
