[T]he House Judiciary Committee chairman's May 4 statement exonerating ACORN couldn't have come out at a worse time. "Based on my review of the information regarding the complaints against ACORN, I have concluded that a hearing on this matter appears unwarranted at this time," Conyers said in a statement aired that night on CNN's "Lou Dobbs Tonight."
Just hours earlier his fellow Democrats in Nevada, Secretary of State Ross Miller and Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto dropped a bombshell. ACORN and two former senior ACORN employees in the state, they announced, had been charged with a total of 39 felony counts related to voter registrations.

When on Wednesday this reporter asked Conyers spokesman Jonathan Godfrey to explain the decision not to move forward with a probe, he declined to do so and instead emailed the same statement that was aired on CNN earlier in the week.
It's unclear what exactly crystallized Conyers's thinking, but his reversal is all the more puzzling given the enthusiasm the 23-term congressman showed for holding an ACORN hearing mere weeks ago.
****
It was always hard to believe that the ultra-liberal Conyers, who is very sympathetic to ACORN's policy goals and who as recently as October called the radical group "a longstanding and well regarded organization that fights for the poor and working class," really wanted to investigate his longtime ally in the leftist movement.
Conyers, who received a 100% rating from ACORN in its 2006 legislative scorecard, showed how truly in sync he was with ACORN when he spoke at the group's national convention last June 22.

interesting...I didnt know that. thanks for the 411.
So if the US had successfully prosecuted Ayers all those years ago, Obama likely wouldnt have “written” those two books nor had his political career successfully launched...interesting...
(I know, I know...we could play “what-ifs” til the cows come home...)
I still fail to understand why Bill Ayers and the other members of the Weather Underground were not prosecuted for Treason for their wartime support of the North Vietnamese military and their domestic activities in support of North Vietnamese victory.
Treason is spelled out as a crime in the Constitution. I see no statute of limitations.
The Pentagon bombing was a charge against a specific event.
Mark Steyn (filling in for Rush) had a caller today who said the Republicans need to stop being such extremists and be more moderate like Obama. He voiced outrage at the term “Socialist”.
While Obama may “appear” moderate to the caller, Mr. Steyn should’ve asked him, what policy positions would be to the Left of Barack Obama’s own positions and could he name some examples of Left Wing Extremists in American politics.
A group of thugs is officially in charge of the government. What with the GOP do about this? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. They should hold a press conference in front of Conyers office. No guts!
WATERGATE was a Democratic coup. True!
Did ANYONE tyhink Conyers was going to go after his OWN ACORN PEOPLE??? Oh PUHLEAZE!!
Moderate what? “Moderate” Marxist?
I think Rush actually has challenged people to name any policy positions or persons supporting policy positions that would be to the left of Zero’s positions. Can’t do it.
Michele Bachmann and Barney Frank may be heading for legislative showdown
During a markup of the Mortgage Reform and Anti-Predatory Lending Act of 2009 this week, Bachmann successfully offered an amendment on voice vote that would prohibit funding in the bill from going to organizations or individuals that have been indicted for voter fraud.
“I want to ensure that organizations, such as ACORN, are prohibited from receiving funds while simultaneously facing charges of voter fraud and tax violations,” Bachmann said in a press release.
Although ACORN has had its share of legal troubles over the years, including an embezzlement scandal and problematic voter registration issues, the group said that it has never been indicted for voter fraud.
So true....and so many Americans are not paying attention.
LOL. Nothing to see here folks. Just good clean democrat politics. Business as usual.
INTREP
“Can you spell ‘corruption’, boys and girls? That’s right, it starts with a C, C...o...n...y...e...r...s!! You did it!! Give yourselves a big pat on the back!!”
</Mr. Rogers>
Nope.
Maybe there should be an investigation into Conyers’ freezer?*
(*obscure William Jefferson reference)
I have a question:
Can this be re-opened WHEN this corrupt administration is over, and the new conservative party administration begins when Obama and his cronies are impeached?
Witness, one of the top ten books ever written.
No. Still sucks though.
The dems are a bunch of criminals.
So we’ll hold our breath, stomp our foot, vent on FR, and back to business as usual And we wonder why the Dems laugh at us.
Ooooooo!! I would pay good money to see her b-slap Bahney Fwank clear into next week!!!
This will be very, very interesting! I’m praying for Michele’s safety, because these people are sooooo corrupt and will stop at nothing to have their way!!
