I'm going to try one more time to explain what FR is all about.
Free Republic is a conservative site. That does not necessarily mean it is a Republican site. In fact there may be many Republicans we don't support and some Republican issues we cannot agree with.
I'll throw in Arlen Specter as a prime example of a Republican we cannot support. Should be obvious to all why not. Should also be just as obvious to all that we cannot support Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, John McCain and his lap dog Lindsay Graham, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, et al.
Some of the issues we cannot support as conservatives even though sometimes initiated by so-called Republicans include TARP, or any kind of government bailout of private enterprise, federal intrusion into free markets, federalized education systems, government provided or controlled health care systems, abortion, gay marriage, amnesty, global warming, gun control, etc.
I guess there is more than one definition of conservatism floating around out there, and this won't be text book, but the one we use involves defending, preserving and protecting our constitution, our unalienable rights, our traditional family values, our American heritage, our nation, our borders and our sovereignty.
We aggressively defend our rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness!
We aggressively defend our rights to freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom to keep and bear arms, right to due process, right to equality under the law, right to be governed under the rule of law, right to constitutionally limited government, right to corruption free government, right to self-government and our private property rights, etc.
We also aggressively defend our right to state and local government for all issues not expressly delegated to the central government by the constitution.
We aggressively defend our rights to free markets and our rights to live our lives free of government intrusion, interference, coercion, force, or abuse of any kind.
We aggressively defend our rights to national sovereignty, state sovereignty and individual sovereignty!
And this definition also includes aggressively fighting against all enemies foreign and domestic who may try to deprive us of our rights or sovereignty. This would obviously include all foreign enemies, but also we defend against RINOS, Democrats, liberals, socialists, Marxists, communists, militant feminists or homosexualists, radical environmentalists, etc, etc, etc.
And we expect our elected representatives to also aggressively defend our rights and fight against all enemies foreign and domestic. We do not elect people and send them to DC or our state capitals, etc, to reach across the aisles or to be bipartisan or to negotiate or compromise away our rights. If you're not going to aggressively fight for us, and for our rights, STAY OUT!!
We bow to no king but God!
Our God-given unalienable rights are NOT negotiable!
Do NOT Tread on US!
Thank you very much!
You don't know how difficult that is for me. I USED to be a democrat and those old habits die hard. ;^)
I think the recent “Tea Parties” ultimate value will be as having set a precedent and a cornerstone for future conservative protests which will surely be necessary as Zero drags the country toward ruin.
But what do we do if, say, Sarah Palin makes the presidential nomination and in spite of protests she chooses Romney for veep,

DUH
I dont think we need fear that would ever happen...
Then QUIT WHINING and answer the question I asked you back in post #631. What do YOU suggest we do? Be specific. Or do you support Romney's socialist agenda?
Quit acting like a troll and answer some questions.
Right, and you voted for Romney once. Any regrets? I want to hear it.
After the tea parties do you now see you made a mistake voting for a RINO? Just trying to help to make sure you don’t make the same mistake in 2010 & 2012
What can we do to encourage the liberals to field a spoiler?

Give them one of their own...
Romney...
Um, I already answered the question. I don’t have an answer that is why I keep asking people here what they suggest. I’m tired of calling congress, senators, etc. etc. etc. I’m looking for something new, and btw, I’m not whining, I’m trying to get some good ideas.
From you....no. From obvious trolls, well.....
It's a fine line. I have been banned on several occasions....as well. :)
...May I add...April 15 fell on a Wednesday!
Working folk HAD to take a day off to attend!
Of course I speak of Alan Keyes, who still can speak to the masses in an intelligent manner for the most vital and revered portions of conservatism. But he is reviled and I find my self looking at his latest “SINS” and wonder where the brains of understanding the English language disappeared to over the last eight years. Not totally right, but a great voice for our side ... and he is reviled and subjected to scorn here. There are not many eloquent conservatives out there who have the imprimatur of Ronald Regan, but Ambassador Keyes did.
= = = = = = = = = = = =
I saw Keyes speak at a CRA state convention once. It was a divisive convention and out of the dozen speakers, Keyes was the ONLY one that got a standing ovation (or an ovation of any type) from EVERYONE.
He is a fantastic speaker.
[NO MORE PRAGMATISM!
We vote for conservatives only!]
Actually, it is pragmatic to vote for conservatives and not RINOs. RINOs have stabbed us in the back like we are pincushions. At least a conservative advances the system of ideas we hold dear - even in defeat.
I agree, I’m glad people are finally coming out and letting their voices be heard, it’s about time people on this side stood up for what they believe in, I’m just not seeing anyone in washington taking any notice. I hope the teaparties get bigger, grander, louder and scare the bejesus out of those in washington.
Someone once gave me a great piece of advice and that was to not offer opinions about why I thought that something I’ve never done won’t work.
If we’ve learned ANYTHING these past several years, we’ve learned that being silent and letting the GOP do as it wishes is the surest recipe for disaster.
If the tea parties start getting in peoples faces and if they start getting politicians worried , then they will be doing ok. We need to be more aggressive.
Do you HONESTLY believe that Mitt would accept second place behind a WOMAN???
Not a chance.

Especially one that is not willing to hold his “priesthood”.
There are variations on some matters among conservatives, but we are united by a common set of principles. Those who generally uphold those principles, whatever their designation, I consider allies, however imperfect; those who do not, I will not and cannot support.
Now if we could just get this through the thick skulls of the Republibots here.
....and....Willard Mitt Romney???
I understand the “change” in people, what I’m saying is I don’t see anyone in power noticing or doing anything to change the way things are done. I know about the pride and tears in attending a teaparty, it was moving, motivating, and nice to see others of like mind, I just want to see some change in the way things are done in washington and so far no one in power wants to address what happened on the 15th except to suggest we are racists, crazy, etc.
