All of April and the start of May 2009 find us still being bombarded by the media hyping up the first 100 days of President Obama with no sign of it dying down. Following the introduction to the monthly thread I will post some photos to remind us of the first few days of the first May of the George W Bush Presidency - those were the days.
The quote I have chosen for this month are remarks made during Commander-In-Chief Trophy Event at the South Portico on May 4, 2001.
Tomorrow I will post some more photos from May 2001 I am sure we will see the contrast what we see and hear from the first few months of the Bush Presidency to the Obama Presidency will make us realise even more so how much more respect and love GWB had for the office and the country and more importantly the individual citizens rather than just special interest groups as the current President does not even bother to try to hide.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island
THANK YOU for posting the photo montages of an authentic Commander-in-Chief — a man who genuinely loved and respected the troops he commanded!!

HEADS UP . . .
(PRESIDENT) BUSH TO SPEAK AT MENDEL CENTER (5/28)
Thursday’s address will be ex-president’s 1st major U.S. speech since leaving office
By David Warfield - H-P Staff Writer
BENTON TOWNSHIP - He has kept a low profile since he left 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in January for his new home in the Dallas suburbs.
Now former president George W. Bush is coming to Southwest Michigan for his first major speech to an American audience.
Bush will speak Thursday to the Economic Club of Southwest Michigan at Lake Michigan College’s Mendel Center in the Grand Upton Hall. The speech will start after a 7:25 p.m. introduction.
Economic Club officials and the former president’s team are keeping quiet about the speech in advance.

If I remember correctly, ON FRIDAY (5/29), PRESIDENT BUSH WILL BE IN TORONTO for a two-hour ‘conversation’ (debate?) with Bill Clinton.
Did you hear there is a group killing our Christian College boys? CNN has been sure to "let us all know" that the Universities are not a place where they are welcome. One young man that my son's friends knew personally was killed just a few weeks ago.
Our Country has gone mad....
I miss the calming presence of our CIC.
WOW, Snugs, Thank You!!
TC
I truly think he hates this country and all the good that
it stands for!
snugs, THANK YOU, so much for the retrospective! The solemn and respectful demeanor of President and Mrs Bush showed how much they cared about our military and their families. President Bush lowered his head in prayer as opposed to jutting out his chin in arrogance.
How is your Dad? I hope he and you are well.
THANK YOU for Your reply & YOU’RE WELCOME...My pleasure!
Such wonderful collages & Sooooooooo much care/ work represented in All these... THANK YOU & HUGS, Snugs/Eleanor!!!:)
DrDeb, thanks for the links! It’s wonderful to see President and Mrs Bush recognized for the good work they’ve done. They are selfless people vs today’s lot of selfish, narcissistic people.
I agree; if CNN has President Bush with a 41 favorable, it’s probably higher...bet CNN didn’t include too many of the President’s fans in the poll.
Anyone planning on attending the Sept 12th event in Washington D.C. ?
What event is this? I guess I am waaaaaaay outta the loop!
I went to an anti-protest in Sept. 2 years ago. The Pinko’s
were protesting the war, and patriots were shouting them down.
Got my dander up! LOL!
This is a snippet from the FR Home Page:
Join the Tea Party Express to DC! We are caravaning from Sacramento to DC from Aug 27 to Sept 12, hosting local Tea Parties in cities all along the way. It’s time to take our country back! Let’s speak out against the out-of-control tax and spend policies of Congress and the White House!
Awesome! I hope they caravan through my part of the country!...since I can’t be in DC then!
Take back our country!
I hadn’t heard of the event until you mentioned it. I’m going to DC in a few weeks and will try to get to Walter Reed, but that’s it. School starts at the end of Aug and tho half the people on FR think profs don’t do anything, it’s actually hard for me to get away during the term.
I hope there’s a big turn out.
Sweet Purple, I Love the Beautiful Gif you Posted; Thank you! DrDeb, Thank you for Everything you Bring to us about our Beloved President Bush.
Prayers for our Military, their Families, and All who have Served our Great Land.
(((((God Bless)))))
Thanks much, tis an honor and a joy,Caring Kitty & Ditto to everthing You wrote to Others too! :)
I heard he played golf too.
He however “observed a moment of silence at 3:00PM”
Hope it didn’t interfere too much with his golf shots.
What a guy!/sarc
Could you make sure I am on your ping list also. I doesn’t seem like I have been getting any pings lately.
I cannot even stand to look at That One, and I try not to have to listen to him speak. When he comes on the TV, I turn the channel.
George W. Bush is just such a gracious man! That virtue seems sorely lacking in the present occupant of the White House.
