Yeah, I know. Said some similar things about Bush in 2000. But at least he was pro-life, pro-family, etc, and thank God we supported him over the idiot All Green Gore.
Said similar things about McCain in 2008. But when asked the question "when does human life begin?," and he unabashedly stated, "At conception, of course," I had to take notice. Then when he announced Sarah Palin as his running mate, I decided to support her. I voted for Sarah (and the white haired old geezer that came along with the package).
But Romney is a NO go. And I don't care who this socialist, abortionist, homosexualist, constitution trampling bastard picks for running mate. If Romney's in I'm out!

This week, the Caucus Room, a steakhouse, opens in downtown Washington at Ninth and D Streets N.W. under 65 partners whose rosters of political connections, high-tech interests, and in some cases both, are longer than a Manhattan wine list.
Thomas H. Boggs Jr., a prominent lobbyist, and
Haley Barbour, former chairman of the Republican National Committee and now in the lobbying business,
hold the largest shares, $150,000 each.
Ted Leonsis, a top executive at American Online, and
Jon Ledecky, another Internet entrepreneur, are also investors.
It is a bipartisan bunch:
Terry McAuliffe, President Clinton's top fund-raiser;
C. Boyden Gray, a former counsel to President Bush and now with the law firm Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering;
Thomas Downey, a former Democratic congressman and now a lobbyist;
Richard Burt, the former ambassador to Germany; and
Frank Luntz, a Republican pollster.
Even the Senate sergeant-at-arms, James Ziglar, has a share in the $3.3 million restaurant with mahogany paneling and marble floors, not so subtle reminders of the hallowed halls of Congress.

Barbour may be doing a good job for his state but anyone who shares very close business partnerships with some of the scum of the Dem party probably has the thinest veneer of integrity.
So, here we go again - no more then 100 or so +/- posting on this site can agree on any given person....it will be the same in 2012, trust me.
Why is it that the Democrats can get it together, but not Republicans/Conservatives any more?

The same thing that happened leading up to the 2009 election - here - will simply repeat it self once again in 2012 and every four years from that point.
We have some wonderful posters here - tons of them, but as a group we are totally disfunctional and the Democrats know it - they just need to read the political threads on this site. Geez, we are so screwed.
Let’s get off Romney - lists some names that you feel that most posters here can get behind...
It does appear that in some ways we are collectively becoming the Group of NO, not a party of NO - just a group of people posting here - Republicans, Conservatives, etc - all looking to off candidate with no alternative that can win. Just say NO! My way, each one of us - or the highway.
Um, I think you misread me. I would not count Barbour OUT of a shot in 2012...
He is one of the most underestimated guys in the bunch...

Thanks Jim! I knew you hadn’t went wobbly. I really fear that Romney and his money could really mess things up. Also the media played a game lifting up Huckabee to help push out other more conservative candidates. Sarah is still awesome. I don’t know if she will run but I’d be with her because she is one of us.
Palin can go anywhere she likes. I would vote for her just to spite the left. It would be almost as good as spitting on them.

Because most republican elected officials have abandoned their principles (or never had them in the first place). Most donk elected officials have also abandoned their principles (or never had any)...but they’ve been out of power so it hasn’t been as obvious.
If people want to unite all arms of the party behind one candidate, I would suggest they refrain from pushing failed, retread 2008 presidential candidates. If the party didn’t unite behind Romney then, why on earth are people pushing him now?
Unfortunately, I think many people who shout loudest that we need to unite behind a candidate REALLY mean that we should all abandon our personal principles and unite behind THEIR candidate. Yet they’re not willing to let their own candidate go when it’s clear that the majority of people in the party don’t want him/her.
I may not agree with Jim Robinson all the time, but I’m with Jim on this one. If Romney’s in, I’m out.
We need a candidate that can bring the independents *and* the conservatives in, or we’ll never win. Romney ain’t it.
And what's so bad about saying no? Saying "yes" too damned much is what got the GOP in the fix it's in now. GOP elites said yes so much that the rest of us must now say, "Enough is enough." And that's what's happening.
There is a significant factor of conservatives and Republicans for whom Romney is the line in the sand. That IS settled, plainly.
So far, I haven't seen any but a very few make the claim that if Palin is in, they're out, not even you. So can we determine that we have in common -- if it's Palin, we're in? How's that for taking a YES approach?
Unique says the same about Palin -- that she cannot win, either -- and then presumes to gently lecture Free Republic about being a Group of No, and lamenting that we might as well just give up now because we're doomed.
All because Romney is being taken off the plate.

Well said. Very well said. unique, I think Ellery's words provide an exray portal exposing your whole schtick, a schtick that you may sincerely not even be aware you're plugging. I am such a pollyanna that I tend to give Romney supporters the benefit of the doubt ... and almost invariably am proven to be a sap because most Romney supporters eventually prove out to be fully aware of their duplicity and deception in the name of pushing their guy, even if it means out-and-out lying.
But I am not that familiar with your posting history, so I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt.
