If you had any doubt that Miss California, Carrie Prejean, lost the crown, if indeed she ever had a chance to win it, with her answer to Perez Hilton's question about states legalizing gay marriage, then read fellow judge Alicia Jacobs' account of her voting. After hearing the answer, Jacobs, a former Miss Nevada USA, writes on her blog, "if I could have made her 51st runner-up, I would have." In a blog item titled "Pretty is as pretty does," Jacobs offers a behind-the-scenes account of the judges and pageant officials involved. Included is Jacobs' account of her reaction as she heard the answer:
"As she continued to speak, I saw the crown move further & further away from her. When she finished, she looked strangely proud for a moment. Personally, I was STUNNED on several levels. First, how could this young woman NOT know her audience and judges? Let's not forget that the person asking the question is an openly gay man, at least 2 people on the judges panel are openly gay. Another judge has a sister in a gay marriage. Her very own state pageant director, KEITH LEWIS is an openly gay man who has been a very generous benefactor of hers...in many ways. (2 ways in particular....if you get my drift??) Did I mention I was STUNNED?"
I don't actually get Jacobs' drift about the "2 ways," but I am sure someone hipper will explain that to me. As for Carrie Prejean, she will be as remembered as well as former Miss Oklahoma Anita Bryant.
Oh, wait, Anita Bryant is still alive. Well, I admit I had to look that up, and my guess is that most of you would too!

Funny, I always thought those interviews and Q&A were about the contestant... So in that light, she couldn't possibly give the wrong answer. Unless you want to tell her what to think and feel. As for knowing the judges, so what? Again, she is supposed to answer based on her outlook, and she did. I'm very proud she had the backbone to state what she believes. (I happen to agree with her too)
If they were even pretending to be impartial judges, they would've appreciated her candid, honest reply even if they disagreed with it. The judges failed here, miserably, not the contestant, she's beautiful, strong-willed, and would make a wonderful Miss USA.
...even if the queers don’t like her she will still get bookings from family values groups...probably more now that she’s famous for speaking her mind....I wish her well.
Carrie Prejean’s crown awaits her in heaven.................
She will be remembered long after whoever won (I don’t even know HER name)...
even here on earth.
It sounds like the beauty pageant business has been taken over by gay people.
Given that gay people make up about 2% of the population, it seems like straight people have been discriminated against here, with so many gays involved in the judging.
Of course, there was a time when people were asked about their personal beliefs, and giving the truthful answer meant being torn apart by lions. It took real courage to stand by your convictions.
We should not be surprised that we can still be punished for our beliefs. We have grown soft because for so long our nation was a “Christian nation”, or at least it was not antithetical and opposed to Christian beliefs. However, that time is long gone now.
We have gotten well into a new era, where expressing your truthful beliefs about abortion, gay marriage, extramarital sex, creation, and wanting to obey and act according to the commands of a higher being will get you ostracized, rejected, fired, and maybe even jailed or beaten.
In the name of Tolerance, we have become intolerant of those who hold firm convictions.
Thank you! Saved me from having to figure out a civil way to say it. End of story indeed!
referring to this?
This constitution is good for the governing of a moral and religious people, it is inadequate for the governance of any other.
That’s right, she did give the wrong answer. What she should have said is this:
Barack Obama was asked whether he supported gay marriage when he was running for President. Barack Obama said no, and I agree with Barack Obama.
What would be wrong about her being proud of her answer?
Welcome to Obama world. In Obama world leftists get to pick winners and losers.
If you do not answer the right way you are slandered and treated like dirt. You will continue to lose until you renounce your beliefs and tow the line.
The lefties are emboldened now and will continue pushing for America’s end to liberties.
Apparently his Bible lost a few pages. Although I suppose technically, Jesus wouldn't have spoken for a vote on an issue, he simply told his followers that marriage was sacred and that even divorce was only offered because we were weak, sinful people.
As I recall, Bob, this charade started shortly after you were busted with a prostitute almost five years ago. Forgive me if I don't consider for a millisecond that your conversion was at all genuine or sincere.
The Bible and the manifesto are wholly incompatible. The only purpose The Bible serves to a practicing Marxist is to provide cover.
So this judge is saying she should have answered based upon who was judging?
I smell Donald Trump involved in this for ratings.
Is Alicia Jacobs outing herself. Is she one of the homosexual judges? If she isnt a homosexual she is certainly a dyed in the wool liberal, and a woman who proposes other women lie to win contests. She is insulted that the woman seemed proud to give a conservative answer.
What she is doing here is encouraging a courageous heterosexual woman to lie to win a contest.
What a farce this has become. Close the whole thing down
Homosexuals running a beauty contest , what a joke.
Help Wanted: Miss America, Christians need not apply.
