"The handgun used to shoot a Milwaukee police officer was purchased in a gas station parking lot by the suspect's live-in girlfriend, according to a criminal complaint." [snip] "Crespo-Marchena is the girlfriend of Louis M. Domenech, 45, a nine-time felon on federal probation. He is charged with trying to kill Officer Vidal Colón in a close-range shootout April 11.
Crespo-Marchena told detectives she bought the Hi-Point 9mm handgun out of a man's trunk a month ago and she let Domenech take it, even though she knew he is a felon, according to the complaint."

Bad people do not follow laws. The shooter was a felon in possession of a fire arm who decided to shoot at the police officer who was chasing him. The officer was wounded, but managed to wound and stop the felon. This felon had a prior involving shooting at police, but was on the street due to lax sentencing.

Well, then, we obviously need to outlaw parking lots.

If only they had a law against shooting people with a gun purchased in a parking lot this wouldn’t have happened.

More gun control will fix that....Thinking strategically, removing parking lots from society and making all of society a "parking lot free zone" would prevent such situations.

Yes, no parking lots within 300 yards of a school.
It’s all about the children...

Ah, the ole parking lot loophole strikes again.

Isn’t it amazing how the law works (or doesn’t)? The guy had used a gun against a police officer before. That would be attempted murder. He should have been put away for a long time on that count.
It’s almost as if the law only counts when you achieve your goal, for instance hitting the officer and killing him. Oh, you only shot at him, well no harm no foul.
Gun laws do not a safe place make. Gun ownership does.
I will state that our biggest problem is not gun control, but rather control of our education system. Our children are being taught that there is no right or wrong. They are being taught that there is no God, and that nature is the supreme being.
As long as this continues, people will see no problem with doing anything they like. Shoot at a cop, it’s only reasonable because I say so... and nobody ever told me I could be wrong, ever.

Yes, no parking lots within 300 yards of a school. How about "personal relocation unit rest zones"?
I just know SOMEONE would find a way around the restrictions. ; )

The girlfriend needs to be prosecuted as an accessory to the assault on the police officer. She made a straw purchase (with or without filling out a form 4473) and conveyed to firearm to a convicted felon. We don't know if the firearm seller was the legal owner or was fencing stolen property on the street.

Stupidity: Believing that a person who disobeys laws against murder, rape, and robbery will obey a law about gun control.

He should be charged like the BATF going after an FFL license holder.
