No it’s not, anyone who cares about that issue on the pro side enough for it to effect their vote is a liberal who will never vote Republican.

Like it or not, its sage advice. I'm sure that's true. After all, measures banning gay marriage regularly pass by a mere 70-30 margin. We certainly wouldn't want to be on the "70" side of such a divisive issue. |

Well his sage advice didn’t help McCain much during the election did it?

What's sage advice? That the GOP should even further alienate its base and join the democrats in supporting butt-sex marriage? That issue that Americans (God love 'em) keep voting down time and time again?
Sage? Here's some sage advice for the GOP--take the pro-family, anti-gaystapo message to the Black and Hispanic communities where it will resonate like nobody's business. Then I'll believe that you're a party that's serious about winning elections.

Like it or not, its sage advice. Yeah right, let's just throw out everything that made this Country what it is.
It is a well known tactic for the commies to change the meaning of words to get their way, think of the impact it has on contracts, and specifically the Constitution, specifically the meaning of the word regulated as in the 2nd Amendment
This is but another reason, not religious, to deny homosexual marriage. There is no such meaning of the word.

McCain is about as liberal as a "Republican" can be. Yet, he lost in 2008. What does that tell you?

Steve Schmidt, in his first political appearance since the election, spoke at the Washington, D.C., convention for the Log Cabin Republicans -- a grassroots group for gay and lesbian Republicans. You call that "sage" advice? Pander to that huge voting segment of 'gay and lesbian Republicans'. Brilliant! More of the same Dem-lite strategy used by McQueeg in 2008 that worked so fabulously.

Like it or not, its sage advice. You presume that objections to gay marriage are a minority view. They most assuredly are not.
Secondly, you presume that the objections to gay marriage are solely based on religious grounds. They most assuredly are not.
You (and Schmidt) have totally misread the issue. Schmidt had an excuse: he worked for McCain, the aRepublican.

Sage advice, eh? In my opinion, it’s people like you who have done tremendous damage to the GOP. This is why we’re going to be out of power for a very long time. Perhaps forever. I pray (yeah, I’m religious) I’m wrong.

Like it or not, its sage advice. No, I think it explains why McCain/Palin lost in a landslide. If their "top campaign adviser" didn't understand such a core conservative issue, no wonder the campaign made so many missteps. How can someone put forth a good argument if that person does not understand the issue itself. It's really not a religious issue. Some of the "gay marriage" supporters claim a religion. It's more an issue of reality.
How many other issues did this guy not understand? For all we know, he sabotaged the campaign.
