Dear Senator Udall,
I was distressed to read the 9 page assessment put out by the Department of Homeland Security regarding our military veterans as potential domestic terrorists. This email has literally been on my computer screen all day as I contemplated how to express to you my outrage and disdain for the report.
Then this afternoon I read the arrogant, clueless and indignant response from Secretary Napolitano and am outraged all over again.
Senator I took you at your word when you said you were going to represent all Coloradans. Even those who didn't vote for you. If you're not outraged that an appointed member of the administration - from your party - can impugn the character and honor of our military and then label us as potential terrorists than you've been in Washington too long. This is simply outrageous. “I have to tell you, I was the United States Attorney for Arizona in the 90’s when Tim McVeigh bombed the Murrow building in Oklahoma City and unfortunately he was a vet — that’s where he got his training,” she said. “And so when I was told about the report, it rang true with me. This has happened in the past.” Secretary Napolitano is quoted as saying on Wednesday afternoon.
I want to know how you're going to hold the DHS Secretary accountable for her department's actions. I want to know that you don't support such absurd notions finding their way into print under the auspices of the Executive Branch of the United States of America.
Her assement offers no specifics. It offers no concrete evidence of what the nine page summary asserts. There are no details backed up by evidence or testimony. It is a hack political job. Do you support the politicization of our military? Do you support the politicization of our Executive Departments? What Napolitano's 'Assessment' asserts is self-fulfilling as it increases distrust of the government by those sworn to protect the Constitution. How can she see as Constitutional this statement: "Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration."
Our Federal Goverment, via this document, is encouraging the profiling of vast groups of people based on political disagreements rather than specific threats. Do you support that? Entire political parties come under this definition. You've been our Senator for less than 100 days. I encourage you to strongly disapprove of this report, Secretary Napolitano and determine who the original authors are and seek their resignation. If the Secretary continues to support this than you need to demand her resignation as well.

I sent e-mails to all my senators/representatives concerning the AIG bonus taxation when the subject came up, questioning them on how they justified giving any thought/hearing to something that breaks Constitutional law AT LEAST FOUR TIMES! and all I got in the way of reply was an invitation to hear one of them speak at the local community college ([un]fortunately it was while I was in class).
Electing Udalls to anything isn’t a good idea.
Yep, they’re both a pair of liberal bastards who fooled Coloradans and New Mexicans that they were moderates. I know Steve Pearce hit our Udall, but his resources were nowhere near the level of that rat. We’ll get him in a few years though.

Great great letter! I think we need to flood their comment lines with this also. I called Napolitano’s comment line only to hear that the vmail was full. Then I tried the general comment line - same deal. This has made me so angry.
Between my father, husband, daughter and son-in-law our family has given over 60 years so far in the service of this country. And now I hear I’m married to a terrorist because he stood strong for our country. Disgusting

I mailed, faxed and attempted to call this, as long as we are comparing notes. I think I will see a response about the time of the next ice age in hell.

I am outraged at the tone, implications and outright accusations made in
the Department of Homeland Security Report of April 7, 2009 partially
titled “Right Wing Extremism: ...”
I demand that the administration in the names of Janet Nepalitano and
Barak Hussien Obama offer an immediate apology and specifically state that
this report is not aimed at individual citizens who disagree with the
administration and exhibit that disagreement in writing, word and peaceful
and lawful demonstrations against this administration.
This is such an inflamatory report I shudder to think what is being
reported and planned against common citizens of the country who are merely
exercising their Constitutional rights in defense of the principles on
which this country was founded and should continue to exist. To suggest
we are plotting overthrow when outright clear and present Terrorism has
now been dubbed as a “Man caused act” or whatever other crap term is being
used by this administration is repugnant beyond the pale. All the more so
when in fact it appears that this administration is bent on overthrow and
desctruction of the foundations of the Nation through all manner of
Unconstitutional actions ...made even worse by your own inability or
unwillingness to stop them.
Ms. Nepolatino needs to mind her nest and enforce the laws of the land
that exist in favor of the citizens who pay her way by actually enforcing
the immigration laws she has sworn to uphold.
If the administration aims to pick a fight with the taxpaying, law abiding
and working citizens of this Country ...they are on the right track and
those who sow the wind will reap the whirlwind.
And if the only response you can give me is one of those lame, patronizing
political form letters ...don’t bother. What I and other REAL AMERICANS
want is a public apology!
