Mayor Bloomberg will run for reelection as a Republican this fall, the Daily News has learned, after successfully courting the party to let him back on its ballot line two years after he left it.
"Mayor Bloomberg and I have had healthy disagreements over issues at times, but I know he is the right person to lead this city forward," said Jay Savino, chairman of the Bronx GOP, who followed his Brooklyn and Staten Island counterparts to become the third county chairman to back the mayor.
Bloomberg twice ran for mayor as a Republican, but quit the party in 2007 when he was contemplating an independent run for President. He is still a registered Independent, and thus needed permission from a majority of the five party chairmen to run on their line.

Good points. I suspect the whole move to allow him to run for a third term was orchestrated by people in government who know the place is in financial chaos but who didn’t want to put their own political careers at risk by trying to fix it.
The sheeple in the City unions won’t vote for a him because of the Republican lable. They are brainwashed into believe that Republican bad for working people. Democrat good for working people. The zombies vote as a block.
Republican = Weak
Bloomie wants to be a republican when he needs support but walks out any time he can’t totally get his way. Is the NY GOP so damned hard up for members that they must tolerate this crap? Crazy Damnyankees!
“Republican = Weak”
Republican in NYC = POISON.
“They are brainwashed into believe that Republican bad for working people. Democrat good for working people.”
Yep, this time around I lost a friend because I “voted against my self-interests”. Watching everything unfold I beg to differ (how is keeping a job against my self-interest?).
Oh brother! Classic schmuck.
The Republican Party is a bad dream.
The Democrat Party is a nightmare.
Its not relevant what party Bloomberg belongs to.
As with a majority of NYCity politicos and regular citizens, Bloomberg is a liberal. FWIW, a Rockefeller Republican.
I think the NY legislature will change the constitution or whatever to allow him additional terms if he agrees to change parties (again).
Then, in 2005, they renamed it "The Republican Graft Exchange Bathhouse".
The only reason this guy Bloomberg could even be considered by the Republican Party is his money. NO OTHER REASON.
He has no loyalty to anyone other than himself.
His ideals are in line with the Socialist/Democrats
He is running as a Republican to prevent a true Conservative from running against him under the Republican umbrella.
The New York Republicans are either stupid and naive, or totally infiltrated by brothers, and sisters from the dark side.
Too funny./
I looked on your about you page.
The jet on floats is not real but the d.c. 3 can be on them.
A guy who lives at my airpark has one believe it or not.
Guy named Herman Bayerdorffer.
He’s also got a P-51 he bought from a museum in Peru that he brought to IndianTown Florida to be rebuilt by about the best P-51 man out there.
His daddy is the guy who invented liners for canned food or beer cans. So he and minor gods have about the same amount of money.
Sorry, in the future I will refrain from speaking so kindly of the assclown bloomberg.
Me? Just a little old RV6A.
A rino is a rino is a rino, by any other name would smell the same. (Apologies to Gertrude Stein) But he will stink the same no matter the label.
Republicans party leaders figured out it was much easier being in the minority.
Add in their longing to be loved by media and Hollywood types, true conservatives have no future in the party.
Ahhh, I can take it off your hands if you want me to. ; - D
The T-33A, DC-3, and the T-28C I helped refurbish and maintained for almost 10 years.
I have been through and worked quite a few CAF and WBA aircraft.
That's how I got the Mustang thrill when I felt it was time to move on. It was to convince me to stay. (I didn't)
I moved on to the likes of the float plane without floats. /snicker
