I am quite certain that this is not the protocol, and is most unbecoming a President of the United States.

Yeah, OK this is the worst gaffe EVER by a head of state. In fact, maybe it is TREASON, yeah, that’s the ticket. Why don’t you jump up and down some more and foam at the mouth and maybe the Congress will impeach him because of this. In the mean time us adults might try to do something about abortion, the economy, etc. etc.

Actions speak loud and clear. This was not a gaffe. It was intentional. If it were a gaffe, he would have probably bowed to the queen (which he should not either). Can you name another leader who is bowing to another during the G20?

A little fight-back spirit when the Obamanation makes one of the all-time biggest protocol gaffes that anyone has ever seen would be helpful. The holding hand was assisting him on some steps. Post the link or pics to Bush kissing him. A bow is far worse than either. It;’s submissive and totally inappropriate unless he feels loyalty to them and I'm sure he does, being a fellow Muslim and all.

I've lived there, twice for a total of 40 months as a Marine Corps officer. I've bowed plenty of times to Japanese dignitaries, their wives, JSF Officers and others in more formal, ceremonial settings. And certainly, this is what the military or DOS protocol would demand - nothing wrong or submissive about it.

I never said there was anything submissive about bowing to a Japanese, as they are generally doing the same.

I choose not to. I don't bow to anybody for any reason. Nothing personal, just the way I am and I respect you for your choices.

However, I was there as a civilian and not encumbered with military protocol or a promotions board.

What Obama is doing in this photo is submissive.

watch at the 50 second mark. abdulla extends his hand, O extends his right hand and clearly bows. No autograph signing here. Can’t tell from the video, but it is quite possible he kissed his ring as well. But he did 100% BOW to him
