PRINCETON, NJ -- Despite the Roman Catholic Church's official opposition to abortion and embryonic stem-cell research, a Gallup analysis finds almost no difference between rank-and-file American Catholics and American non-Catholics in terms of finding the two issues morally acceptable.

Unfortunately, most of today’s Catholics went through the Marxist government school system and then attended heavily Marxist colleges while reading Marxist newspapers and watching Marxist television and enjoying the movies and music of Marxist entertainers.

How does one hour per week in Church compete with that?

And do these so called Catholics who support abortion go to Church? I don’t think so and I don’t call them Catholic either.

Half of the people who identify themselves as Catholic are actually Catholic. It takes a little more than saying so to be so.

And do these so called Catholics who support abortion go to Church?

From the poll:

In general, Americans who are the most religious also tend to be the most conservative on moral issues. Catholics are no exception. Regular churchgoing Catholics (defined as those who attend church weekly or almost every week) are significantly less likely to find most issues measured in this research morally acceptable than are Catholics who do not attend church regularly.

The chart is still higher than it should be, but it does drop when you count only those who attend regularly.

We HAVE to. This is a major problem for us in America. This is partly why Notre Dame thinks they can get away with propping up the baby killer Obama

I suspect if you survey the Catholics who abide by their Sunday obligation, you will get vastly different results than by merely surveying anyone who identifies themselves as Catholic. There are CINOs just like there are RINOs.

Then they're not Catholics.

Yes, but overall, we are losing members. This is bad. It needs to be addressed.

Then they are not Catholics. They’re not Wildebeestes either, but they can call themselves that, too.

Just curious. What makes hyou think they give one hor a week in church? Accordiong to the poll they called up about three thousand people, got what they claim was their religion ands then asked what they believe. JUST ONCE I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THEM GO TO A CHURCH, ESPECIALLY A CONSERVATIVE ONE AND ASK THE QUESTION.

I’d estimate that upwards of 80% of those calling themselves Catholic are CINOs. The Church has only itself to blame for this as decades of doctrinal and catechetical laxity on the part of the American episcopate has borne its expected fruit.

What’s the punishment for apostasy?

As far as I can tell, somewhere between “nothing” and “self-excommunication”, whatever that means.

Regular churchgoing Catholics (defined as those who attend church weekly or almost every week) are significantly less likely to find most issues measured in this research morally acceptable than are Catholics who do not attend church regularly.

For any non-Catholics reading this non-news article, a Catholic who doesn't attend Mass every Sunday without a good excuse is in a state of mortal sin. Therefore, "Catholics" who don't attend Mass are by definition not really Catholics at all.

During the last forty years, our clergy has beocme more and more liberal, so the specific differences between Catholicism and other faiths have been soft-peddled. The exception has been between us and the evangelicals orf conservative Protestants.

I would question the results of this poll as being agenda driven.

To the proclaimed Catholics who actually believe abortion is acceptable, they have a fundamental misunderstanding of what being Catholic is.
