From the day the founding Fathers risked their liberty and life by signing the Declaration of Independence, there has been those who have wanted to sink this great ship called the United States of America. Well 143 years later the good ship America took a torpedo hit that at the time seemed like just another glancing blow. What many still consider the greatest step forward in equality for the sexes, was more then just a glancing blow however. It was in fact a deadly strike that entered the very heart of the ship and has been smoldering since. The damage caused by the 19th amendment was slow in its destruction, but after almost 100 years we can now see how complete the destruction really was.

Oh come on! Like you're the only one who had limited interaction with the opposite sex? Obviously there are males on this thread who never met a female worthy of respect, before they chewed through the restraints and wandered out into public. Now that they're here, they have no idea how to behave. Give them a break. They don't know any better. And keep an eye out for their offspring, because they won't know any better either.
I have never known anyone to discuss and question women’s rights. Why would this be so hard to believe. Maybe I’ve been very fortunate, that is why I found this thread so out of line. Maybe I’ve been surrounded by those who, at least in front of me, have not spoken about women as if they are less worthy than a male of anything.
Oh, I believe you. I’ve had the same limited interaction in my own life. I’m only exposed to these morons on Free Republic. I don’t know any of them in the 3D world.
I just thought you should consider that if you had such limited interaction as to never meet anyone like them before, what must it be like for them, since they obviously never met a respectable woman in their world. How could they learn about respect if their mothers, sister, grandmothers, and aunts are all the kind of women they claim all women are? Stupid women like that are going to turn out morons like these.
I’ve never met anyone who’s dared to vocalize those kinds of thoughts. Whether they really believe them or not, I don’t know. Maybe they just know better than to say something like that when not behind the safe anonymity of a computer screen.
What’s alarming is the number of folks on a conservative site like FR who agree with this. I thought that this country left the Dark Ages of this kind of thinking years ago.
Can you imagine the fallout if they said that blacks shouldn’t have the vote because they were *too _______* (fill in the blank)?
Women’s right to vote isn’t the whole of the problem.
Combining the destruction of the family with women’s voting is the problem.
The BSFs (bitter single female) who spout “a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle” invariably vote for a replacement husband in the form of gov’t programs.
Married women tend to vote for less intrusive gov’t, and for more family sovereignty.
The fact that we have no control over our gender or place of origin seems to make no difference in threads like this.
This is true, Metmom. Whether they believe it or not, we have not been exposed to these vocalized these views.
There are regimes present and past in which even men cannot vote. The laws are/were dictated by a King or dictator. Our country has fought against this kind of oppression. Our history is based on it. It’s oppression when voting rights are supressed from men, women, or both. It’s sad that at a time when our party is in trouble, we can at least find some unity on FR. Yet, threads such as these cause such division.
Same as a poor excuse, just pronounced the country way.
Look, I’m through with the sarcasm and dart throwing. This thread has evolved over the past three days and honstly, I still don’t know of anything good that has come of it.
It was a lesson learned for me. Now I can say that I was exposed to those who question voting rights for women. This is not being said in sarcasm, but in truth. I find it sad.
Even removing the BSF from the mix wounldn’t make much difference.
The blame cannot simply be laid at the feet of females. Men have voted for liberal policies for decades as well.
Perhaps that anti-women voter crowd can remember that it was men who granted women the right to vote in the first place.
Well said MM.
You know, all this business about granting women rights equal to that of men, really goes to show the second class status that women had for so long and still have in the minds of some.
I wonder how men would like being told that they can’t do anything unless they were given permission from the ruling class? And then they don’t get it when women complain about being treated like property. It’s all *Aw, look, the little woman is mad*. I guess we have further to go in being accepted as human beings by some men yet than I thought.
It’s attitudes like that that add fuel to the fire for the feminists or at least give them credibility with the general populace. It should come as no surprise that the women’s movement found so much support from women.
I’m with you....
See you on another thread.
Yes you will, Friend. Thank you for all of your support over the last couple of days.
Over 90% of blacks are democrats and consistently vote for democrats. By the logic of denying women the right to vote, then blacks, who are democratic in far greater numbers and percentages, should also be denied the right to vote.
They don't have the guts to make such a suggestion, however.
Great work on this thread, metmom!
Being a lady today is not at all respected. In fact, it's the opposite, even by many on FR. And we can lay the blame at the feet of the left.
Exactly.
And if skin color is not a good reason to deny someone the right to vote, why should gender?
Good grief, I feel like I'm in a time warp; like I'm back in the 60's still fighting for the right to wear slacks to school instead of the dresses that were mandated.
This sure has reminded me of why feminism gained such popularity and why it still has ammunition even though they've gone way over the edge since then.
Your right to vote should be predicated on tax payment.
If you pay no taxes, you don’t get to vote. Period.
You’re right about all of that.
Metmom always does a good job of dealing with those ignorance-inspired attitudes. Good job, Metmom and HollyB!
Most of the failed policies of liberalism were enacted by liberal men long ago. In the past thirty years or so liberal women have joined them. Why should conservative women pay the price for what liberals of both genders and all ethnicities, have been doing to this country for many years?
