I’ve never met anyone who’s dared to vocalize those kinds of thoughts. Whether they really believe them or not, I don’t know. Maybe they just know better than to say something like that when not behind the safe anonymity of a computer screen.
What’s alarming is the number of folks on a conservative site like FR who agree with this. I thought that this country left the Dark Ages of this kind of thinking years ago.
Can you imagine the fallout if they said that blacks shouldn’t have the vote because they were *too _______* (fill in the blank)?
Women’s right to vote isn’t the whole of the problem.
Combining the destruction of the family with women’s voting is the problem.
The BSFs (bitter single female) who spout “a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle” invariably vote for a replacement husband in the form of gov’t programs.
Married women tend to vote for less intrusive gov’t, and for more family sovereignty.
The fact that we have no control over our gender or place of origin seems to make no difference in threads like this.
This is true, Metmom. Whether they believe it or not, we have not been exposed to these vocalized these views.
There are regimes present and past in which even men cannot vote. The laws are/were dictated by a King or dictator. Our country has fought against this kind of oppression. Our history is based on it. It’s oppression when voting rights are supressed from men, women, or both. It’s sad that at a time when our party is in trouble, we can at least find some unity on FR. Yet, threads such as these cause such division.
Over 90% of blacks are democrats and consistently vote for democrats. By the logic of denying women the right to vote, then blacks, who are democratic in far greater numbers and percentages, should also be denied the right to vote.
They don't have the guts to make such a suggestion, however.
Great work on this thread, metmom!
