Of course. If he were a Republican, that fact would be in the headline.

NY Crimes ran a full column...mentioned his party affiliation BUT ended by saying;

Republicans used the indictment as an opportunity to question the leadership of Senator Malcolm A. Smith, the Democratic majority leader. “It’s a mockery,” said Senator Martin J. Golden of Brooklyn. “It’s shocking. And everyone should take notice.”

Jeremy W. Peters contributed reporting from Albany.

"He's a Democrat"

Dang. You spoiled it. I was going to guess it was a generic "progressive" party.

It should be noted that the full, "balanced" AP report from which this is excerpted does not include the word "Democrat."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiram_Monserrate
“Since his election in 2001, Monserrate has distinguished himself as an outspoken advocate of a series of liberal policies on a wide range of issues, including an extensive campaign to restore the protections and immunities enjoyed by illegal aliens living within New York City boundaries, which date back to an executive order issued by the administration of Edward I. Koch, but which were nullified by a judge during the administration of Michael Bloomberg.

Monserrate, along with his colleagues on the City Council, eventually reached an agreement with Mayor Bloomberg that resulted in the issuance of Executive Order 41, which specifies that city agencies that offer public services can not inquire as to the immigration status of potential recipients of those services, and that the only valid instances of city inquiry into someone’s immigration status are those that pertain directly to services predicated specifically upon that status.”

He looks like he likes his fudge.

I’m surprised he did this to a woman.

“’CRUISE CONTROL’ POL: IT HELPED ME
HAILS WEIRD DETOX

A legislator hosting a gala fund-raising dinner for a controversial detoxification program for 9/11 rescue workers co-founded by Tom Cruise revealed yesterday he’s undergone the procedure himself.

“I will tell you I felt 100 times better after the program than I’ve felt in the last 15 years,” said City Councilman Hiram Monserrate (D-Queens). “”

If it weren’t so infuriating it would almost be funny. But we informed people know when they don’t name the party, the bad guy is a Dem. Wasn’t there another case just a few days ago with a state rep. from NM being indicted or convicted? I don’t remember all the details but it was completely predictable. He was a Dem and this was not mentioned until late in the article, if at all.

When he was born, they kept the afterbirth and threw away the baby.
