12 American Solutions for Jobs and Prosperity

Washington solutions of more money for more government, more power for politicians, more debt, and more bureaucrats will not lead to real growth in jobs and prosperity.
We need a clear and decisive alternative that creates jobs and rewards work, saving, and investment.
- Payroll Tax Stimulus. With a temporary new tax credit to offset 50% of the payroll tax, every small business would have more money, and all Americans would take home more of what they earn.
- Real Middle-Income Tax Relief. Reduce the marginal tax rate of 25% down to 15%, in effect establishing a flat-rate tax of 15% for close to 9 out of 10 American workers.
- Reduce the Business Tax Rate. Match Irelands rate of 12.5% to keep more jobs in America.
- Homeowners Assistance. Provide tax credit incentives to responsible home buyers so they can keep their homes.
- Control Spending So We Can Move to a Balanced Budget. This begins with eliminating Congressional earmarks and wasteful pork-barrel spending.
- No State Aid Without Protection From Fraud. Require state governments to adopt anti-fraud and anti-theft policies before giving them more money.
- More American Energy Now. Explore for more American oil and gas and invest in affordable energy for the future, including clean coal, ethanol, nuclear power and renewable fuels.
- Abolish Taxes on Capital Gains. Match China, Singapore and many other competitors. More investment in America means more jobs in America.
- Protect the Rights of American Workers. We must protect a workers right to decide by secret ballot whether to join a union, and the workers right to freely negotiate. Forced unionism will kill jobs in America at a time when we cant afford to lose them.
- Replace Sarbanes-Oxley. This failed law is crippling entrepreneurial startups. Replace it with affordable rules that help create jobs, not destroy them.
- Abolish the Death Tax. Americans should work for their families, not for Washington.
- Invest in Energy and Transportation Infrastructure. This includes a new, expanded electric power grid and a 21st century air traffic control system that will reduce delays in air travel and save passengers, employees and airlines billions of dollars per year.

Nailed It!
This ping list is not author-specific for articles I'd like to share. Some for the perfect moral clarity, some for provocative thoughts; or simply interesting articles I'd hate to miss myself. (I don't have to agree with the author all 100% to feel the need to share an article.)
I will try not to abuse the ping list and not to annoy you too much, but on some days there is more of the good stuff that is worthy of attention.
You are welcome to browse the list of truly exceptional articles I pinged to lately. Updated on February 10, 2009. on my page.
You are welcome in or out, just freepmail me (and note which PING list you are talking about).
Besides this one, I keep 2 separate PING lists for my favorite authors Victor Davis Hanson and Orson Scott Card.

Promises, promises. Give the tax cuts/credits on the tax return of a specific company AFTER they create the jobs.

There's a better idea regarding the payroll tax, middle income tax relief, reduction of business tax rate. The solution has been introduced in each session of Congress since 1999.
It's called The Fair Tax Act(HR25/S296). It will replace all federal income taxes with a national sales tax and abolish the IRS. Visit the links below for more information.

I love everything except #4. If you bought your home using an adjustable rate mortgage or you bought a home that you really couldn’t afford you don’t deserve assistance. I’m sorry but I don’t want to bail out homeowners anymore than I want to bail out companies that can’t survive.
To: Tolik
The Fair Tax will also abolish the capital gains and death taxes.

I know I heard this discussed during the campaign, but it never materialized. I’d like to be given access to our 401K’s w/out paying the penalty and receive a significant tax break for using the money to make a major purchase. (We haven’t lost value to this point in our plans because we moved to a stable fund before the down tick started. We could use a newer car, and we would be willing to buy one if we could tap those funds w/out penalties and a reduced tax rate.) I’d be more than willing to tap them and may do so even with the tax and penalities if I think the government is moving to nationalize them.

This looks like the Gingrich version of a “Contract with America” for the mid-term elections.

That is why there has been and continues to be a growing grassroots movement to apply pressure on Congress critters to realize they either support The Fair Tax Act or risk losing their jobs at the next election. The 51 Cosponsors who have signed on after less than three months into the new session of Congress is testament to the extent of influence the grassroots movement has on politicians.

Amend the Constitution, getting rid of the authority to levy income taxes. Make the FairTax legislation effective upon repeal of the 16th amendment. Otherwise, they’ll start adding income taxes back in for the “rich,” until we’re at the same point we are at today.

You'll be happy to know Americans For Fair Taxation is pushing for concurrent legislation to repeal the 16th Amendment by supporting passage of House Joint Resolution 16.
It would be still be impossible for a federal income tax to be enforced with The Fair Tax abolishing the IRS even if HJR 16 were not passed concurrently.

You don't think the Dept. of the Treasury would create an "Office of Revenue Collection and Control" to levy the new income taxes on "the rich"? Maybe you just have more faith than I do in the system.

If that should occur it will be outside the scope of The Fair Tax since a consumption tax doesn't base taxation on wealth. Therefore being rich, however that is defined, is irrelevant.

But you leave the explicit authority to levy income taxes with the government if the FairTax is implimented. The entire purpose of this tax scheme is to alleviate the need for an income tax. However, as we all know, if you give the government authority to do something, they will do it. Which is why we’ll end up with BOTH an income tax and a federal sales tax. I’m not in favor of adding new taxes without removing the both authority to levy existing taxes.

Das Liberale Demokraten don't want cheap energy. They want to control energy. Energy is more than physical power it is political power. They talk about how we should be energy independent but shoot any real solution. Reason? They don't want it.

This should just about be the last straw. It is time our Reps get ugly with the Marxists before things go out of control for them.

Newt’s got good ideas and does a nice job of packaging them. Too bad he’s gone soft trying to win-over leftists and coddle the media by bashing Rush and other principled conservative voices. He probably resents Ronald Reagan being the real hero of the conservative movement, a position Newt could never accomplish.

There is nobody equal to Newt now in pointing out the winning ideas - conservative ideas that have majority support in America regardless of party affiliation. His personal weaknesses are also well known. Yes, he is far from perfect. But not recognizing his strength and not using his strength in our advantage is STUPID. There is enough people here who have NDS (Newt Derangement Syndrome) and treat him as enemy instead of utilizing his ideas. I don’t have to agree with somebody 100% (and I don’t) to recognize his value.
Newt would be much better than Steele as a head of RNC. Or a leading *doer* like Palin or Jindal should use him as an *idea* man. I think Newt was smart enough to realize that he can’t be the #1 guy, and would serve well as another #1 guy’s/gal’s principal adviser.
