A few days ago I posted about the Obama administrations plan to rob soldiers of some of their medical benefits. Today the head of the American Legion (the nations largest veterans organization) paid a visit to Obama to talk about the issue, and he didnt leave happy.Normally I am a staunch advocate of limited government and privatization. But in this instance we have troops who served their country, often in awful war zones that left them scarred and maimed, and they did so with the assumption that medical care would be one of the benefits theyd receive as compensation. The government has no business trying to opt out of that.

On camera, LIVE.
However, you'd be the subject of a huge smear campaign ala Joe the Plumber.
I was over there for 6 years doing “Things” in Kuwait !!I saw the real show and Saddam had to go Period. I guess one had to be aware that the Sanctions were being eroded daily,His funding of Terrorism, The Games with the inspectors, the dual use facilities that were going on line for his Terrorist Depot, The daily firing at our aircraft and the usual ramp up at the border with his Military.
YES!!!! It is the only way to hold our ground and to have something left with which to build upon.
Fight it out in primaries but after that we do everything within our power to defeat RATS. Anyone can see the damage they are doing.
So you would vote for a RINO like Snowe, Specter, Collins, McCain, or Graham over a non-Republican conservative?
My gosh.....there is so much marlarkey here...it must be St. Patrick's Day!!
I am done with GWB/BDS today. Ping me about him tomorrow.
But speaking of Code Pink. Have you noticed that we are in two wars and Obama is sending more troops to Afganistan yet Code Pink, Michael Moore, ANSWER, Sheenan est have given up their protests against military occupation???. I mean, Obama is taking his time with an orderly withdrawl, responsible HUH? But when Bush did the same thing he was criminal. Remember what they all said for 3 years?? They said “ They want us to leave. So lets just go! They have to learn to fight their own battles ” . See ? a change in party and a bad war becomse a good war.
Oh, it's painfully obvious to see that you are willing to turn a blind eye to all the damage that the contemptible RINOs are doing...and then, when the Republican Party is rotten and decayed from the inside, they will hand you over to the Democrats.
If you reward bad behavior, expect more bad behavior.
But hey, it seems you have no problem with bad behavior so long as it's a Republican at the helm.
From the cheerleader that pushed the biggest RINO of all, Ron Paul. Ron Paul is no Republican, he is a Libertarian wearing a Republican title to win election. He is a Republican In Name Only. He is a coward that dares not run under what he really is because he would not get elected. Ron Paul is a bigger RINO than anyone in the Republican party and GW himself. What did you think about Ron Paul putting in more earmarks into the last bill THAN ANY OTHER REPUBLICAN? I noticed you hid from that thread Rabs. Your dear leader is a fraud. He is your Jim Jones and you are drinking his kool-aid. Ron Paul, king of earmarks. Are those constitutional? Where are they BTW in the constitution?
I remember all that and it’s part of why Bush sold me too. But looking back and where we are now I would say Saddam in power is better than what we have here in USA now. GWB put all his chips on one political gamble, and he lost because Saddam was bluffing on weapons and threat, as GWB has admitted.
If we found weapons that were a near term threat to US, or we were attacked by saddam, Obama wouldnt be president now.
Sickoflibs—Again, you’re right on the money. Under Bush spending outstripped tax cuts. Bush was right in going to WOT, but botched it. Iraq and Afghanistan should have been over long ago. Bush never learned from Vietnam—when at war you cannot allow yur adversary safe havens. Moreover, he missed the biggest lesson from Vietnam—when a president commits American troops he/she must be willing to bring overwhelming force to bear. The minimalist war he and Rumsfeld tried to get away with failed. The biggest advantage it provided the Islamoterrorists was time. Time to hide, time to recruit, time to rearm, time to reorganize. This has led directly to unnecessary American casualties and war costs.
Please trust me on this. I know first hand how the system works. I was in the midst for many, many years. It's a numbers game.
I've worked with so-called "conservative" Democrats but over the years I've lost all respect for them. They know full well they grant power to the liberal Democrats. Listen to what I'm going to say now: The ONLY time a "conservative Democrat has ANY value is when they are in the minority. Then they might be able to give a vote that would be valuable to our cause but as long as they're in the majority, they're useless to our cause as they only increase the Democrat majority and when Democrats are in the majority, they control the whole agenda.
They elect the leaders, they elect committee chairs which control all legislation.
While RINOS are a pain in the neck, they still count toward a Republican majority and at this point, we don't have the luxury of being able to throw them overboard.
We need every one of them. I would fight like heck to have them defeated in a primary, however.
It is regrettable to learn that Ron Paul is just less of a politician than the rest, but nonetheless, still a politician.
Yes...they count towards the numbers that were needed to stop Porkulus, and yet, they caved.
Sorry, I don't buy your arguments.
For Governor Palin.
Thanks. It’s called overextension. He tried the Iraq Democracy Autonomy thing in 2004 (while still at War) which didnt go well, but got him re-elected before it was obvious to voters things in Iraq were a mess.
Too much on his plate. Remember Johnson? Vietnam, Space Program, Great Society all at the same time without raising taxes? And we got 1970s decade of stagflation and destruction of military. Oh-No!
What I told you were facts. It is not an opinion, it is a fact that this is the way the process works. Now, if you don’t care if Republicans ever get into the majority, you have every right to believe that way but if we’re ever going to get in the majority, we need every number we can get. We may have to use some RINOs to get there.
So basically, what you are working towards is simply giving the Republicans a majority...but to what end? It's a very important question that all Freepers should stop trying to dodge or evade. To what ends do we commit ourselves? Is it just power or is it conservatism?
The Republican Party held a majority for nearly six years. The Party effectively controlled all three branches of the Federal government and...how exactly did its actions further the cause of limited, Constitutional government? [The answer is that its actions didn't.] There was little to no actual reform of the tax code, public education still sucks, the U.S. is bogged down in multiple wars, debt is skyrocketing, Government at all levels consistently violates the Constitution...and hell, the Republican Party even created a new Federal agency and bloated the size and cost of Government! And, to top it all off, despite holding a majority, the Republicans negligently failed to rein in the Democrats, and it turns out that all that wonderful economic growth was all just pie in the sky.
You should take note that I am not a Republican. I used to be one until I discovered that the Party, on the whole, only cared to honor me and to adhere to conservative principles when it needed my money and my vote. As a result, I don't care whether the Republican Party lives or dies, so long as it gets the hell out of my way. I do, however, care about folks who are sincere and genuine about promoting limited, Constitutional government, regardless of their political affiliations.
What PART of supporting Terrorism do you NOT understand???
