Federal authorities have told a high-profile Arizona sheriff that they will investigate his department over allegations of discriminatory practices and unconstitutional searches and seizures.
The U.S. Justice Department said in a letter delivered Tuesday to Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio that the investigation will focus on alleged patterns of discrimination based on a person's national origin.
Arpaio told The Associated Press that he will cooperate with the Justice Department.
Arpaio, who describes himself as "America's Toughest Sheriff" and is best known for feeding jail inmates green bologna sandwiches, clothing them in pink underwear, and making them work on chain gangs, received praise for his anti-immigration efforts from many who believe the federal government isn't doing enough to remove people in the U.S. illegally.

That’d go over real well.
He starts messing with the Feds, there’d probably be a Waco all over again.
But it’s a great idea anyway.

As opposed to real conservatives, like FReepers for example. Are you suggesting Bush was a conservative, and are you suggesting Bush did a good job of securing our borders and sovereignty and did not aid and abet this violent illegal invasion?

mccain is a lost cause, i didn’t vote for him in the az primary, precisely because of his “juan mccain” tendencies and i’m still waiting for my $50 an hour lettuce picking job that he said we Americans wouldn’t do, but i supported him and despite my laid-off job status i sent his presidential campaign 25 bucks after he picked palin. then he just disappointed me again with his “stepping almost completely across the aisle”.

He also endorsed Napolitano as governor and I know he didn’t endorse McCain when he won the nomination.

Yes. Charles Barkley had a holiday there. Room service, autographs, and reading time. He was treated like he was in an outdoor hotel.

This would be the perfect opportunity to make VERY public all the crimes that are being committed by illegals. All the murders, car thefts, home invasions, etc. Sheriff Joe should tell the feds on any network that will allow it (including C-Span) that he has a right to protect the citizens of Maricopa County and if they don't want him doing the job, they should.
Sacrificing the lives of American citizens to insure votes for democrat politicians is NOT acceptale.

Let's not forget that Senior Vice President for the National Council of La Raza Cecilia Muñoz was appointed to the Obama administration
after receiving an ethics waiver for being a lobbyist.
Muñoz now serves as the Director of Intergovernmental Affairs in the Executive Office of the President.
In that capacity, she manages the White Houses
relationships with state and local governmental entities and also serves as a
principal liaison to the Hispanic community.

Thanks for the ping.
Nobody I know wants to drive through Maricopa County. Not because of Sheriff Joe, but the fact that the place is riddled with illegals. They are blood-thirsty and are intent on taking what does not belong to them.
Arizona's gun law is our safety net. Can't carry concealed - the weapon has to be in view. Used to see rednecks' rifles/shotguns mounted on a rack inside a truck rear window. No more. But people aren't getting rid of their guns, either.
If I remember correctly, a governor can call up the Reserve. States' Rights.
Yoo hoo, Jan Brewer ...
