"Next election is going to be about who's better for the middle class: big spending Democrats, or free enterprise Republicans? And we Republicans have a lot of work to do to be able to make that case now, and win."

Murphy's point is the same one that Rush has been making for quite a while. Rush has also been pointing out that the GOP began losing elections when it moved away from that idea of free enterprise, and adopted the spending habits of the Democrats.
