Some say that if farmers dont want problems from Monsanto, the simply shouldnt buy Monsantos GMO seeds. But it isnt quite that simple. Monsanto contaminates the fields, trespasses onto the land taking samples, and then sues, saying they own the crop.
Meanwhile, Monsanto is taking many other steps to keep farmers and everyone else from having any access at all to buying, collecting, and saving of normal seeds:
1. Theyve bought up the seed companies across the Midwest.
2. Theyve written Monsanto seed laws and gotten legislators to put them through, that make cleaning, collecting and storing of seeds so onerous in terms of fees and paperwork that having normal seed becomes almost impossible.
3. Monsanto is pushing laws that ensure that farmers and citizens cant block the planting of GMO crops even if they can contaminate other crops.
4. There are Monsanto regulations buried in the FDA rules that make a farmers seed cleaning equipment illegal because its now considered a source of seed contamination.
Monsanto has sued more than 1500 farmers whose fields had simply been contaminated by GM crops.

Please explain.
Seeds ping
It’s a stealth attempt to control the food supply by restricting access to the seeds.
If they own the patents for the hybred seeds and influence, or pay off, legislators to pass laws that restrict or forbid planting of heirloom variety seeds, then Monsanto and other agricorporations can control food production.
It is so important to encourage and support the small family farms, so that food production will not be totally controlled by international agricorporations.
Think using food as a political weapon ! It is being done today in Africa.

Nothing says control quite as clearly as 'obey or starve'.

Do a FreeRepublic search on “Monsanto”. A lot of very informative threads will appear, going back for years. It’s NOT a trivial, non-consequential issue.
Some of the language in this bill .......... typical governmental-ese ..confounding, confusing. This new agency is separate from the FDA, the FOOD and Drug Administration’s mantel of responsibility.
Why?
If anyone can decipher this, please let us know what their motive is and the outcome they’re mandating.

Talk about shock and awe ... every area, every industry, every part of our lives now has new scrutiny, oversight, and modification to suit their new collectivist order.

I still don’t get the references I’ve read about seeds or heirloom seeds mentioned regarding this bill. I’ve done a search for seed, seeds, and garden in the document, and those words aren’t there.
Anyone with more detailed info, please let me know. I’m telling everyone with a backyard, they need to grow something to eat that they don’t have to buy.

HR 875 Would Essentially Outlaw Family Farms In The United States
http://shepardpolitics.blogspot.com/2009/03/hr-875-would-essentially-outlaw-family.html
bump .... time to lay in seed supplies. These bastards are going for a total Sovietization of the USA.
Including FAMINE.
~~PONG!
What a bunch of Bull Punky.
Anyone who wants to save seed from one year to the next simply purchases Non-Patented seed. They can save seed from this seedstock into infinity.
I am not a big fan of Monsanto. But neither am I a fan of those who want to hijack technology someone else has paid for, without paying a user fee.
It’s not about patent infringment. It’s about attempting to gain a monopoly of seed production and sales by devious political maneuvering in order to prevent competition from heirloom variety seeds.
Destroy the competition to enhance the corporate bottom line, or to gain political power through control of food production. That’s the agricorporate mindset.
Present day international corporations, and the familiar agricorporations are international, have no conscience, no sense of moral or civic responsibility and no allegiance to any country. It’s all about greed.
Americans need to wake up and protect their food supply.
I listen to the Derry Brownfield Show every weekday.
It is a great show. He got screwed over by Monsanto last year when he said something on his show that they didn't like and forced the radio network Learfield - which he helped create - to fire him. Just do a search if you want to find out more on that.
Anyways he quickly got back on air and says exactly what he wants about them and others.
This show from last July is one of the shows dealing with Monsanto.
Can listen to older shows by looking at past shows and Podcast/Mp3.
If anyone wants to listen to his show but don't have a station in their area I know you can listen online on KSMO. Look under the Listen Options link for others on Derry's site.
His show airs M-F at 10-11am CT time.
They fake compassion -- look at The One, that's his schtick, which so many fools are buying (at least 56% at latest polls).
Michael Pollan's Omivore's Dilemma; The End of Food (forget the author's name); Joel Salatin's Everything I want to do is illegal (he's GREAT!)...these are all along the same theme, from both political spectra -- food is a neccessity, and can be used as a weapon of control.
We've been so spoiled when it comes to food in America. We were the world's breadbasket. Now we're becoming the world's high fructose corn sweetener supplier.
Not to be pessimistic, but I call Obamanation the Mugabe of America for a reason -- Zimbabwe used to be the breadbasket of Africa....now it's an inflation-ridden hollow shell of a country. I recall reading about the "veterans" who were used by Mugabe to terrorize the White farmers (to include the Black Africans who worked for them on the farms - they didn't escape the rapes and the terror) -- the veterans/thugs were "given" the farms, and realized, "oh, this is harder than it looks." DUH. Now look at Zimbabwe.
Yet, over half our country voted for Mugabe junior. Great.
