As I said to you in a post on another thread, I’m still shaking my head over some of the stuff on this thread.
“Sorry, it is the anti-GM movement....”
Ok then, lets leave them out of it. How do you feel about Monsanto creating monopolies on fresh water by buying up water rights. It is a serious problem in many places like India. It has been said that they own 85% of the water in parts of S. America (like Mexico). Is a private monopoly on agricultural & drinking water ethical and what good can come of it?
My capitalist roots run deep, but I have problems with any corporation manipulating the political process so they can achieve monopolies on essentials like food & water.
I said I didn't and I don't, you kook. But thanks for showing yourself to be irrational yet again. It is obvious that you haven't read a single article on the subject.
(a short excerpt from the Nelson's website)The North Dakota State Seed Arbitration Board found no support for Monsantos claims in its March 27 hearing on the matter.
"The evidence does not show, by the greater weight of the evidence, that Nelson Farm is infringing on any Monsanto patents for RR soybeans by planting, growing, and harvesting unlicensed saved RR soybean seed without authorization from Monsanto, or that Nelson Farm will continue to so infringe. Nelson Farm did not plant any saved RR soybean seed in 1998, 1999, or 2000," according to the non-binding Board ruling.
Representatives for Monsanto were absent.
"They said it was a patent infringement case and had nothing to do with the controversy involving seed," Fraase says. "But obviously it does involve seed. It involves the accusation that they (the Nelsons) used saved seed."
I’m going through my seeds now and have several varieties which are heirloom and will learn to save seed.
Monsanto can go take a flying leap.....
I have many seeds but it is hard to garden here at 7,600 ft. in the Rockies. I need to do some major work on the fencing to keep all of our native rodents out for starters. There must be six different species of small furry thieves. It is still good to have a collection though if things get tight(er).
Listening to Glenn Beck and James Rollins (new book “The Doomsday Key”) talk about Bush’s Order 81 that all Iraqi wheat must be “terminator seeds.”
