Fifteen Republican members of the Missouri General Assembly have signed on to a state constitutional amendment that appears aimed at advancing the claims of the fringe movement that doubts President Barack Obama's eligibility to serve as president.
The language is contained in a proposed "voter’s bill of rights," which would serve "as a defense against corruption, fraud, and tyranny."
The proposed amendment states:
For candidates who are required by the Constitution of the United States to be natural born citizens, the secretary of state shall request an official copy of the candidate’s birth certificate. Other certifications, such as a certificate of live birth, shall not be accepted. Should any candidate fail to provide an official birth certificate within thirty days of the request by the secretary of state, his or her name shall not be placed on the ballot.
The Birthers, as they're known, have focused on the State of Hawaii's refusal to release the original of Obama's birth certificate, as opposed to official copies; Hawaii state law bars the release of the original.

Sorry, the Constitution would govern what happens. And according to that if the office of the president is vacant then the vice-president becomes president.
Not withstanding the fact that Obama is narcissistic, he Constitutionally qualifies for the Presidency.
Obama is a citizen because his mother was a citizen. Some have made much of the fact the she was too young to pass her citizenship down to him, but the fact is that the law was amended retroactively to include her age.
There are two types of citizenship: natural born and naturalized. Obama wasn’t naturalized so he is natural born.
It doesn’t matter where he was born, he’s still a natural born citizen.
I hear the birth certificate thing off and on and haven’t jumped on board yet.

Yep, and even if suits be brought saying Biden would not be eligible because he was on a ticket with someone who was not eligible it would not matter. The succession rules are there for a reason.

It could be argued that the office hasn't been occupied since Nov. 4th. In which case, there was no vice-president.

Oldexpat, what else would be revealed by the birth certificate that he would want to hide? Gender? Parents? Date of birth? (I don’t recall what other information is on a birth certificate.)
No doubt. Indeed, it's even more so after the way he won the election. The amount of money he raised form untraceable, small donations was impossible unless that money actually was laundered large donations, split into many small individual packages, all in total violation of U.S. election laws. Obama had to know about it, cooperate with it, and fully support it, making him, right now, an unconvicted felon. His controllers no doubt know about all of this and where the evidence is. All he has to do is cross them and he's destroyed.
He could be hiding that Frank Marshall Davis is his father. A true communist.
But...humor me here.....If the President was sworn in illegally, then the VP wasn’t sworn in. The VP rides on the coat tails of the President. I would like to see it all taken back to the inauguration. Not only that, Obama could be looking at jail time.

This is totally wrong. Yes, the law was subsequently changed but there was nothing retoactive about it. Obama is subject to the law as it was at the time of his birth.
He was elected by over 69 million voters and 365 presidential electors.
