What does the worst recession in a generation look like?
It is both deep and broad. Every state in the country, with the exception of a band stretching from the Dakotas down to Texas, is now shedding jobs at a rapid pace. And even that band has recently begun to suffer, because of the sharp fall in both oil and crop prices.

Thanks for this info. Starting to look more like a depression, depends how much unemployment occurs.
I will tell you one sector that is not having a hard time in Oklahoma, and that is the road construction as they replace a couple of overpasses that should have been replaced a long time ago on I-35 in the Norman area but that is not the only place. Norman is replacing sewers all over town and redoing streets. Had to make a business trip north of OKC today and every place I went was road construction. I am getting tired of seeing orange cones.
Does having the worst depression advance Obama's goal?

The old gray whore revels in the USA’s problems.
She shall soon meet her new boss when she shuts down operations.
And, like any over the hill whore, will wonder why no one will pick her up on the side of the road.
This is tough, but I am willing to tighten the belt a bit to see the demise of the old gray whore.
She didn’t have to do the same to see the demise of the USA.
The Depression will get much worse before it gets better. It may be worse than what we’ve been calling The Great Depression. We may come to call it the Greatest Depression.
And it won’t end until 2012 at the earliest. It may last decades. And the end won’t be recognized until a year or more after it happens. And of course, there will be periods where things temporarily get better. But it will be a case of “two steps downward, one step up and/or sideways.” Just like the last year and a half, only on a larger scale.
And the “ends in 2012, no worse than the Great Depression” scenario would be guaranteed even if the government followed all the optimal policy actions. It hasn’t. It isn’t. And it won’t.
blue states seem to have most of the unemployment.
The DOW has lost 33 percent in 4 months!
