President Obama said Tuesday that the country already is "seeing shovels hit the ground" on the first infrastructure repair project funded through the Transportation Department's share of the $787 billion stimulus bill.

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said, "The work begins today in Montgomery County, Maryland, where a work crew is starting on a project to resurface Maryland State Highway 650 -- a very busy road that has not been fully repaired in 17 years."

The resurfacing contract is going to a Pennsylvania-based family-owned company, America Infrastructure, LaHood said.

He said the project will support 60 jobs. "And that's how we're going to get the country back on its feet," LaHood added.

Mark Compton, director of government affairs for American Infrastructure, said his company received $2.1 million in federal funds, by way of the Maryland State Highway Administration.

I guaran-damn-tee that each ‘rescue bill’ project will have government provided signage declaring our tax dollars at work to save America with a smiling picture of the dope-in-chief.

60 jobs. and how many jobs will be lost from all the traffic delays that will result from the construction?

That’s a grave. They’re burying what’s left of the U.S.

Do they even do that anymore? When I was a kid I used to frequently see “Your tax dollars at work” signs all over. I don't think I've seen one since the early 80s.

You wanna see shovels hit the ground? Just walk up to any construction site and yell “Immigration!” They’ll fall like rain.

KEY WORD! Will support. “will support” does not mean they will hire 60. And how is a WOPPING 60 jobs improving the economy especially when the contracting firm is recieving 1.2 million dollars. AND THIS IS HOW WE GET THE COUNTRY BACK ON IT’S FEET? THE #’S DON’T ADD UP, WE ARE NOT THAT STUPID!

Yep, just wait till the unions find out that Obammy is using unskilled, untrained construction workers. This is going to be a typical Socialist makework project. Dig a hole, dig another hole, move the dirt from the first hole to fill in the second hole. Rinse, lather, repeat. Those aren't shovels hitting the ground though, it's manure.

They became the objects of ridicule and scorn when one person was working and ten were standing around watching him.

For maybe a couple of months.

As my Father-in-law was fond of saying about the Civilian Conservation Corps under FDR:

"It gave me three hots and a cot for a year and not a damn thing more. And lest I forget to mention, oatmeal for dinner sucks."

And, since Obama's directive that government contracts for construction all come with strings attached that include non-union workers paying union dues, this one project should put a few hundred thousand in the hands of Democrat pet organizations, aka, unions, and ultimately, in the hands of Democrats.

Shovels hit the ground and workers lean on them because there is no work to be done.
