I agree with you, except I believe he deserves a majority of the blame for the economic crisis.

And BTW, what spending bill did he ever veto?

. . . than with serious, thinking leaders with cogent, well thought out AND PRESENTED ideas for dealing with the economic collapse the Bush/Wall Street crowd left us. Huckabee is right.

Typing those two back-to-back should result in immediate CPU failure.

We lose election because we run wobbly, democrat-lite RINOS. The 2008 primary field was horrible. The only conservatives were underdog wild cards (Fred and Hunter). It was a competition between a bunch of RINOs... and the greatest RINO moderate won.

We cannot convince people to vote for us if we don't present clear alternatives to the Democrats. No one wants the lite product if he can have the real deal.

Lackluster, across-the-aisle Republicans are dragging us, not real Conservatives, least of them Rush Limbaugh.

Didn't you ever notice that (national level) Democrats don't feel the need to reach across the aisle and pander to Conservatives? They play hardball and fight with fire while the RNC during the last twenty years was creeping to the left, effectively validating the Democrat position.

Your rejection of the hard right and talk radio, implies that you want to run again a RINO moderate which will lose again.

President Bush was the only President I know that could infuriate both sides of the political spectrum. That’s a talent few politicians have and it’s not good.

Its not helping that the GOP is now increasingly identified with the likes of a strident Limbaugh...

Indeed, the GOP should stick to the moderate course charted by McCain, Romney, Giuliani, etc.--in the great winning tradition of Bob Dole, Gerald Ford, Tom Dewey, Wendell Willkie, and Alf Landon.

First, we had George HW Bush and conservatives said he was the worst.

So, we got Clinton, a worser worst.

Then we had George W Bush and conservatives said he was the worstest worst.

So, now we have Obama, the worsely worser worstest worst.

Can't wait to see what we get after Jeb.

Blaming Bush is not going to win any elections. Speaking of conspiracy theorists, the GOP is beginning to sound like the Democrats insisting that “Bush stole the election”.

Former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-Ark.)... pointed to the Bush administration’s failed response to Hurricane Katrina in 2005

This goes to Huckabee's complete lack of understanding as to the proper roles of government.

“Conservatism” has become a cottage industry where people market their wares. Books, speaking engagements, appearances, blogs, advertising, writers, etc.

CPAC is the biggest flea market in the country, and the main objective seems to be sales.

It does not help sales to be supportive of anything or anyone at CPAC (except one’s wares).

Although there are many things for which to criticize Bush, this (Katrina) is not one of them. We conservatives need to put blame exactly where blame is due; on Ray Nagin and Kathleen Blanco. The feds can't do anything until the local government FILLS OUT THE FORMS!!!!

Well, the Louisiana voters took care of one of those two morons, seeing as how Mr. Jindal is now the governor. And it's amazing how few conservatives don't mention how he was in contact with state officials BEFORE the storm made landfall. (I expect the lefties to not mention it.)

And I certainly did not hear a lot of these folks complaining about President Bush when they were in power...any of them that did needed only to look in the mirror and see the three fingers pointing back at themselves.

I would have been proud to stand up and say thank you to GWB for what he did right. Hell's bells, something must have gone right, he got reelected as a Republican, certainly more conservative than the two alternatives at the time (Gore and Lurch).

Of course he did some things wrong...what president hasn't? And those who demand 100%...well, look what we have now...anyway...

Exactly .. and even after Bush flew down to NO and invited Nagin and Blanco aboard AF1 to talk - THEY STILL DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO.

Yet .. the left will always blame Bush for not rescuing them.

And .. recently a story about rescuing people has come to light where the NO authorities told boaters they could not rescue people who were stranded until they could prove their boat was properly licensed. Typical liberals. But .. it was Jindal who told the boaters to go ahead.

As for Huckabee .. I don’t like him, I don’t trust him, and he talks out of both sides of his mouth. Besides .. he’s blatantly rude when he speaks about Mitt Romney. I don’t care if Mitt’s a Mormon - but it’s a real issue for Huckabee. As long as Mitt doesn’t force me to become a Mormon, then what’s the beef ..??

And .. in checking the straw poll at CPAC .. I see the masses are making the very same mistake they have made for the past few years .. all the top candidates ARE MODERATES.

If that’s the selection - Charlie Christ - then we are going to lose and lose BIG in 2010 and in 2012.

No to Jeb Bush! No to “pro-amnesty for illegal immigrants” politicians! And no to political dynasties!

Agree with you, I don’t want to hear from Newt or the Huckster, they are very similar ‘which way the wind blow’ types....both also have a great love of hearing themcelves talk and a bit of Nanny Statism stench is there too.

And isn’t it odd that Obama is not the pinpoint focus of all the CPAC speeches?

If we keep trying to walk forward while staring over our shoulders at what’s behind us, we’re going to trip and fall down.
