Orlando Tea Party Report
me | February 27, 2009 | me

Posted on 02/27/2009 11:19:26 AM PST by Roos_Girl

I took a few minutes out of lunch to go check out the crowd at today's Tea Party in downtown Orlando. I'm guessing there were about 100 people there. I took pictures, and hopefully I'm going to post them correctly for you.

From what I could gather the organizer was Jason Lloyd and a friend of his, pictured in colonial dress with the flag. I thought Jason did a good job of addressing the group.

The first order of business was to open in prayer and then we all said the Pledge of Allegience. Jason then discussed the reason for meeting and did a good job of repeating his theme, "Repeal or Retire!". A direct message to the Congress that passed Porkulus, "Repeal this spending or we will retire you in 2010!"

The local news, Channel 13, which is affiliated with the Orlando Sentinel, showed up and did a report from there. I will be interested to see their coverage given how over the years the Sentinel has moved further and further left.

Everyone there knew about the March 21st Tea Party and all said they would be there too. I am expecting there to be a much bigger turn out for that event since it is getting a lot more publicity than this one did.

Only 100 people?

Well, it’s a start, I guess.

“CNN reporting here from Florida...about 7-12 radical religious nuts show up and cause problems for commuting motorists...more on this very, very, very minor interruption...”

Now,From me,
Good job to ALL of you that sacrificed your time...I guarantee (speaking from past experience) it WILL grow. Do not listen to the lies and especially DO NOT listen to those that say “your wasting your time”!

Saving your freedom is NEVER a waste of time...NEVER!

I didn’t even know about this one! I’m about a mile from here.

I’ll be at the one on 3/21 and plan on doing a big broadcast email closer to the date to make people aware.

Yeah, I think it just wasn’t all that well advertised. It was mostly a word of mouth kind of thing from my understanding.

So organize it. There’s nothing special about the people that organized this one.

Heh, except they have time and probably know people. My husband and I moved down from Iowa three months ago, work full time, and have a baby coming in two months. Not a good time for learning about grassroots organizing.

Welcome to Florida. :)

I talked with the woman whose picture I referenced about her and Jason’s situation. She said she knew about 10 people there. Both of them work, they posted the info as many places they could think of online (Twitter, Facebook, etc.), they called only the people they knew and asked those people to do the same, they called the TV station.
