What Sarah should do
2/25/2009 | ventana

Posted on 02/25/2009 5:20:09 AM PST by ventana

Like kick the can, the media will play its usual noisy game today.

Obama scored, Obama won, poll numbers rising. The clatter will be deafening. But as the din subsides over the next few days, a sinking feeling in the pits of the stomaches of ordinary Americans will mirror the sentiment on Wall Street.

This is a carpe diem moment. This should be the moment Sarah Palin makes a self-directed foray into a forum of her own choosing.

She should boldly grab the spotlight, and, by using YouTube, address the American people. She can create her own bully pulpit.

Handlers may tell her to wait, but that would be a misstep. This is a watershed moment, and the American people want to hear from a leader who is commonsensical, who is no-nonsense. We want to hear from someone who has a vision for this country that is optimistic and unselfconsciously informed by a spirituality which is palpable.

Sarah has this in spades.

She should refuse to engage the media like she would Ebola.

But she should look us square in the eye and talk to us. A townhall forum would be ideal. Questions from the audience would create the sense that small town America is a partner with her in this conversation.

We realize she's not Condi Rice, or Henry Kissinger, or Hillary Clinton, or even Barak Obama.

That's not what we are looking for. It is exactly that polished and slick political type who will not resonate with responsible Americans right now. Responsible Americans, those who have to foot the bill, would like to hear from somebody a lot like them. An individual who shares their concerns and is able to express their concerns, an individual with a vision that seems a lot more patriotic and consistent with the Constitution for which many brave forefathers fought and died for, that is who American looks for now.

In fact it is Sarah, plain spoken and honest who should grab attention with a conversation absolutely free from the hyperbole of over promise and under deliver that so disgusts us.

Bobby Jindahl gave a pleasant speech last night; but it was not compelling. America needs and waits for a genuine conversation. So Sarah, step in to the spotlight.

We'd like to talk with you.

In recent times we have Hillary, Rudy, and Fred. They all lost.

It means nothing.

It's ludicrous to claim that these three lost because of the use of their first name. Bush was called Dubya by friend and foe alike. How many terms did he serve?

Abe, Teddy and Ike are prime counter-examples.

I also want to remind you of JIMMY! JIMMY! JIMMY! His succesful (unfortunately) campaign ran heavily on his "friendly everyman" image.

Why would you suggest that all of the sudden it has changed now?

Youtube is a workaround. She doesn’t have to talk to anybody in the media. She can talk to us. V’s wife.

Stop the whining about Sarah though. Be up front and support someone. Or get out of the way.

She was definitely "Dan Quayled" by the media. If she wants a successful future in national politics she needs to reinvent her public persona despite the media.

BS.

She's a CONSERVATIVE....Repeat CONSERVATIVE.

Conservatives don't "reinvent their personas". That's what liberals, weaklings, frauds and other assorted phonies do.

Reagan never "reinvented" himself. And the media went after him with all they had.

What Reagan had and what Sarah has, is Courage.

"Courage is the first of human qualities because it is the quality which guarantees all others." Winston Churchill

...It is a far, far better idea to fight that bully, take it head on and kick the living dog $hit out of it, than to cave in...

That is exactly what Reagan did....and with a smile.

“Sarah Palin is damaged goods”

What did Sarah Palin do or say that was so bad that made her damaged goods:

1)’I can see Russia from my house’: Tina Fey said it; Sarah did not

2)Asked a man in a wheelchair to stand up at a rally (that was Joe Biden)

3)Said there was 57 states (Barack Obama)

4)”You have nothing to worry about Barack Obama being POTUS”(that was John McCain)

5)”Barack Obama will be tested in the first 6 months” (that was Joe Biden, inviting global attacks)

6)”I believe in spreading the wealth” (that was Barack Obama)

7)”I want to split Iraq into three parts” (that was Joe Biden)

8)”Americans are killing civilians and air-raiding villages in Afghanistan” (that was Barack Obama)

9)”Barack Obama refuses to talk about victory except when talking about his own campaign” (that was Sarah Palin)

10)”Barack wants to take more of your money and give you more orders from Washington” (that was Sarah Palin)

Now many people come back to the Gibson and Couric interviews to show her ‘damaged’. Let me direct you to Mark Levin’s web site where he has the full transcript of the interview with Gibson which proves that ABC definitely edited the tape to make Sarah look bad by not reflecting in total what Sarah said in response to the question.

As regards to the Couric interview I will admit Sarah was not at her best, but would you use the same standard to judge anybody else. Why is Bobby Jindal not damaged goods from his subpar rebuttal performance yesterday? Look even Tiger Woods misses the cut or has a bad round of golf. It does not define Tiger and one performance with Couric 4 years before running again should also not define Sarah.

And finally go back and watch her introductory speech at Dayton, her convention speech at St. Paul and her debate performance in St. Louis (all stellar performances) and I dare anybody who is objective to consider Sarah damaged goods.

Remember Kobe Bryant, Muhammed Ali, and Ray Lewis resurrected their careers. And of these gentlemen committed notorious acts; Sarah did not.

People love Sarah. After that speech she gave at the convention, I knew she would be President someday.

How is her image ruined ?

It won't matter how conservative she is or how great a president she would be until she can get 50.1% of the vote. That is going to take a focused effort on her part to undo what the MSM has done to her. It isn't her policy positions, it's that 24/7 the media will tell the public she is stupid and extreme.

You can call it whatever you want.

John O'Sullivan put it best in his WSJ article pointing out the parallels between Palin and Margaret Thatcher. O'Sullivan talked about the unique ability to rise to the occasion when the big-stage lights went on and when there was little time for preparation. He called it "the mark of a star".

The fact that McCain didn’t lose bigger, and Obama didn’t win more is directly attributable to Sarah Palin.

Some have said she should wait until the summer when his policies fail.

No, she should be seen as an honest, early, aggressive commentator who didn’t move in opportunistically, when it was more convenient for her, but who acted when it was right and the conservative movement needed to hear from her.

That’s authenticity V’s wife.

Dittoes.

Leave Sarah alone. And for the rest of you with your “damaged goods” remarks - Pi$$ Off.

Seems to me Hillary had the spot light for eight years. Look where that got HER.

Let Palin alone. Let her govern Alaska. And in 2012..... we’ll see.
