Ammo flying off store shelves

TAMPA - After President Barack Obama won the election, people flooded gun stores because of speculation that he may limit gun ownership or raise taxes on them. Even though neither has happened, the amount of people wanting to get their hands on a gun hasn't gone down. Scott Patrick is the General Manager of the Shoot Straight gun range in Tampa. He says the number of people coming into his store is still going up. "For whatever reason, whether it's the economy or crime, people don't feel safe," he said. Patrick is having serious trouble keeping all kinds of fire arms in stock, even holsters are often backordered. However, he says ammunition is what is really flying off store shelves. Ammo that sells for personal protection is as good as gold these days, and it's costing 30 to 40 percent more than it used to.

Try to find a Russian SKS......very good rifle.

You’ll pay a couple of hundred more, but lil better quality.

Check Gunbroker.com. I just bought a Yugo SKS for $250 off there.

I want a Russian, Polish, or Yugo variant. The Chinese are just cheap pieces of junk.

“Now, think back to the story of Chicken Little and what people thought of the character. Further more, it was his opinion that anyone who surpassed what he recommended was hoarding, a bit arrogant and condescending wouldn’t you say? It could at least be interpreted that way though he did back off of it after a while.”

Big freaking deal. Not only are you thin skinned, you read alot into comments to make them more insulting than they are. Stop being so hypersensitive.

“The statement “don’t let the aholes get you down” most certainly is calling posters, who happen to be FReepers that you don’t agree with names. Again your lack of understanding sentence structure and meaning is showing or you are trying to wiggle out of an argument.”

Wiggling out of arguments is not my style, however constant whining appears to be yours. I’ll explain it again so that even you can understand it. I didn’t call all freepers aholes, I didn’t call any particular freeper an ahole (which would be a personal attack). Did the comment apply to some folks who were piling onto a fellow freeper who merely went against conventional wisdom, YES. I didnt single anyone out. The fact that you decided the comment applied to YOU says alot. The fact that you continue to be bothered by it is more evidence of hypersensivity.
Finally, I dont see any reason to provide you my past screen names. If you doubt my word about not being a noob, I couldn’t care less.

Do not speak for me.

I don’t know your gender so your response is making many assumptions that you can’t support.

What do we need to do to ‘store ammo properly’; de humidifier? And if it is in a safe in the basement, how much degradation occurs?

The thread talks about buying as much ammo as possible, but what amount is a decent minimum?

“What do we need to do to ‘store ammo properly’...dehumidifier?

I am certainly no expert on storage,
but I have always been told that “cool and dry” was ideal;
but more importantly is for storage to be “consistent”.
Warm then cool; dry then damp; over and over again...
causes more harm than just a consistent condition.
