TAMPA - After President Barack Obama won the election, people flooded gun stores because of speculation that he may limit gun ownership or raise taxes on them. Even though neither has happened, the amount of people wanting to get their hands on a gun hasn't gone down. Scott Patrick is the General Manager of the Shoot Straight gun range in Tampa. He says the number of people coming into his store is still going up. "For whatever reason, whether it's the economy or crime, people don't feel safe," he said. Patrick is having serious trouble keeping all kinds of fire arms in stock, even holsters are often backordered. However, he says ammunition is what is really flying off store shelves. Ammo that sells for personal protection is as good as gold these days, and it's costing 30 to 40 percent more than it used to.

In bad times, guns and ammo are money, silly. Chicken little my as*. I can see you are well prepared if some Mexican gangs come beating on your door. Let’s do the math. You have one gun and a*couple of boxes* which probably means 50-100 tops. They come with ar 15’s with 30 round clips or 50 round drums. You call the cops, they are busy elsewhere, guess what, you are screwed.

Exactly. This crap about people buying them because they think they will be banned is total BS. People in their 70’s buying their first gun and taking classes, give me a break. I doubt if they never owned a gun before, they are hardly worried about a ban at their age.

No. That being said, you aren’t me and might like the g36 just fine. I doubt it though...it’s a bit rough to shoot because it’s so light.
Do yourself a favor though, try the g30sf on for size. It’s a double stack 45acp but they managed to make the grip 3mm smaller than the original g30. It took me a grand total of 5 seconds to decide on trading the standard g30 I’d carried for ten years for the SF (short frame) model.
I thought they had to issue those in 90 days.
