Republicans must put people before politics (Huge barf alert)

Our view: Many GOP leaders appear to be trying to undercut Obama's plans

Putting politics ahead of your constituents' needs and best interests is unconscionable.

With the country in a recession of historic proportions, we are appalled by the number of Republicans who seem to be polishing their conservative credentials instead of working with President Barack Obama to try to bring relief to the country.

There is, of course, a role for a loyal opposition in our system of government; but many in the GOP seem committed to obstructionism.

Although some Republicans in Congress deny it, there were opportunities for them to participate in shaping the $787 billion stimulus bill that Obama signed on Tuesday.

Tucson Democratic Rep. Raúl Grijalva told us that House Democrats made concessions in order to win GOP votes. But no Republican in the House and only three in the Senate voted for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

According to Obama senior adviser David Axelrod, the plan was originally crafted to address some Republican concerns. Axelrod said on "Fox News Sunday" that "the package reflects the thinking of members of both parties. And I think that over time . . . there'll be a positive effect of just having dialogue, of just talking, which has not happened for a long time in this town."

That was rejected by senior Republicans. Arizona Sen. John McCain called Obama's first few weeks "a bad beginning."

Actually, the Republican Party could only be described as "Not currently having its head up its a$$....like the President and Democrats in Congress.

True, which is exactly what the democrats did when they crafted their backroom socialist Viagra, with the intent of destroying the country and leading it to bankruptcy

As for the baby killer in the white house his only actions have been evil, immoral and perverse.

And the multiple Obasms continue. The media’s coital obsession with him will never end. In the media’s eyes, we must be plum crazy to dare question Obama. He’s so wonderful and charming. I mean, come on people: he’s black, he has perfect daughters, a saintly wife, believes in hope, wants change, and passionately says “yes we can!” Who needs anything more than that? Really, what more could we want out of our president?

Us conservatives and Republicans are just so bad. We want to take medicine away fom the elderly, force people to work to provide for themselves, and give cigarrettes and guns to the children.

In other news, Obama has promised to bring back unicorns, leprechauns, fairies, and minotaurs.

Tucson Democratic Rep. Raúl Grijalva

Grijalva is one of the worst leftists in the house. He represents us in Yuma. The district was gerrymandered to insure that other districts are Republican strongholds, so we take one for the team.

This illuminates the sickness that defines the left: they are incapable of processing that anyone could take a public policy position founded on moral and rational principle. To them, every single calculation and objective serves only to maximize partisan political advantage and those ends always justify the means.

It appears not to occur with the author that the Republicans have a belief that the stimulus bill and the like will negatively impact the economy. That the stimulus bill borrows from our children and grandchildren’s standard of living for social engineering, extravagant wasteful spending, programs that create entitlements that we cannot afford and pork projects.

It appears not to occur to the author that Republicans and economists genuinely believe that providing incentives for investment and business growth by making money available to small business, reducing taxes for those who run small business, reducing bloated bureaucracy, eliminating burdensome regulations is an approach to stimulus that would actually work.

Every time I see Grijalva, he reminds me of some small-town corrupt PRI-party Sheriff from a Northern Mexican state.

What a load. The 'Rats don't need a single vote in the House to do anything. These folks just want a few Republicans on board so Republicans can share in the blame when our economy collapses.
