No it was not either...you know the Dems said the same thing about Ohio in 2004...they were wrong, and you are too. Ohio went for Obama period...I am saddened to say this but it’s true. I worked as McCain volunteer, many GOP voted for Obama in Ohio...it was mostly about jobs and trade. Thus, I don’t see how 2012 will be better unless the GOP wises up and realizes you can’t screw a state you need to win in every presidential contest.
I agree with every word you say...we are trying to rebuild in Ohio...people don’t understand when Senators (mostly from the South) show contempt for the Mid West, it infuriates people and makes our job much harder. If you can’t say something positive then don’t say anything...please!

True...they do vote with the GOP in other important votes however. People here hated DeWine...well he would have been the 60th vote against stimulus. Voinivich that hated RINO voted against the stimulus. Brown who replaced DeWine flew in and cast the deciding vote.

That was such a goatrope. On par with the rats letting LaRooshites win primaries for IL LT Governor and Sec of State in 1986 (I still can’t believe that happened).
If they don’t get $$’s there won’t be many GOP left to start acting conservative. Campaigns cost money...Obama consistently raised massive amounts of money and outspent McCain...I cringed when I heard freepers brag about how they were turning down RNC request for money. They only hurt themselves.

It may sound Machiavellian but we’re in a war fought with ballots instead of bullets. Since those bastards cheat at elections if we have legitimate reason to keep some ex-drug dealer from voting for Obama we should do it imo.
I actually agree with you about the political aspect of what Crist did. It does hurt the GOP.
I have a family member who made a mortgage loan to his Mom-she was experiencing financial trouble-violated federal law...it was wrong. He paid the price-13 months in the Federal penitentiary. He had copped a plea under threat that if he did not his Mom would be prosecuted. You have no idea how tough it has been since he got out...he was hired by one guy who basically told him...try and collect the money I owe you and I’ll make sure you go back to jail...The family hired a lawyer and eventually won. With a felony conviction, it’s tough to make a living. Eventually, we pooled our resources and helped him open a heating and air conditioning business which is doing well. It was really the only option because trying to seek outside employment just didn’t work. So, I have seen the other side.
This guy did something wrong and paid his debt to society. How much longer should he pay? Most pay their entire life. This guy has lost much, but his wife stuck by him and he is able to make a living. I don’t see why he should not vote. although, I understand the political implications.

You are correct. It may rival the 89th Congress in that respect. What did we have back then, something like 28 in the Senate? LBJ and the ‘Rats had a free hand. And it was a disaster. We may be poised to enact Great Society II, as opposed to New Deal II.
We really should make a strong try for the IL seat. Yes, I know its IL, but the dynamic has changed somewhat with the recent Blagojevich-Burris scandals. People may just be about fed up with ‘Rat scandals. The GOP will have to have a deep, thorough vetting process to come up with a candidate who is free of taint and can run a character-themed campaign that can cut across ideological lines. The candidate can present as someone who will bring respectability back to IL politics, to make the place something more than a laughingstock to the rest of the country. That just might be a winning strategy.
It is possible to spin that away as fraud, but it is also equally valid to look at it as a shift in the electorate for this particular election. Which is it? I don't know, but I do know that my district sent a rabid liberal to Congress to occupy a seat that had been in 'Pub hands for generations. Combine that with the demographic shift I see evidence of every day, and I am inclined to go with the electorate changing explanation. In the end, the result is the same, the 'Rats get the votes. To win back OH, the 'Pub candidates are going to have to come up with candidates and policies that the voters can support, especially on the economic issues. The 'Rats, especially Obomba and Brown, killed us with those last time out, and the 'Pubs never really came up with an effective counter to blunt those attacks.
Now, without question, some of that is the black thing, some of it is the perceived youth thing, a little bit is the "hope/change" crap without specifics. But there is also an absolute absence of a counter argument as to why socialism is bad.
You hit the nail on the head...economic issues-big one trade...my hubby said when McCain went not once but three times to Michigan and said the jobs were not coming back...then during the campaign talked of re-training that it was over for McCain...re-training is a dirty word here because re-train for what? The health sector? Tech-moving jobs overseas hand over fist.
Obomba didn't say much, either, but it was effective. He said, first, Bush's Fault (naturally), and, second, he was going to "re-negotiate" NAFTA. Re-negotiate, eh? How? In what way? Never said, and the MSM sure didn't ask. But it was enough. The presstitutes ran with it and the sheeple bought it, and Obomba was in.

I was 24 in 2006 and I voted straight GOP even as the party was getting whacked elsewhere.
