Two Knox County legislators have joined House Republican Caucus Chairman Glen Casada in signing up as supporters of a lawsuit trying to force President Barack Obama to turn over a copy of his birth certificate.
State Reps. Stacey Campfield of Knoxville and Frank Niceley of Strawberry Plains say they agreed to be listed as plaintiffs in hopes of resolving contentions that Obama may actually have been born outside of the United States, which would mean he cannot serve as president under a provision of the U.S. Constitution.
Casada and Rep. Eric Swafford, R-Pikeville, also acknowledged that they will back the Defend Our Freedoms Foundation in the lawsuit, one of several expected to be filed. The U.S. Supreme Court already has refused to hear one such lawsuit, and Democratic legislators suggest the whole thing is an unfounded conspiracy theory.
"I want to end the controversy," Campfield said. "Obama claims he wants to be a very open person, and this is the perfect way to show that - by turning over the birth certificate to get over all the questions and concerns."
Obama's campaign last year provided copies of a certificate to various media outlets indicating the president was born in Hawaii, but Campfield said there were questions about whether the document was "a certification, not a certificate - and there's a difference."

I would sure like to see a state - say TX, TN, OK, other? - to put a hold all Federal taxes that it’s citizens are to pay the Federal government, collect it at the state level, but not forward it to the Federal government, until zero proves he meets the qualifications of office.
bump!
Awesome! Finally, finally our elected officials are listening to our voices!

This article says Maya Soetoro-Ng says he was born at the hospital too: "He was born in Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children, two blocks up from where our grandmother still resides ... the place where he used to stick orange peels under his bed, where it got all dried out and ... nasty."

My fear is that any original documents have been destroyed. Rahm Emmanuels “vacation” to Kenya, Obama’s trips to Hawaii, His pals at Harvard, Columbia, Occidental... it looks like this has been taken care of.
This is the only way to stop the Stimulus road to Socialism . . . every law the current President signs will be null and void if he is not a Natural Born Citizen.
Email this information to your Republican Congresscritters asap. I’ve written and would LOVE to see CSPAN cameras on Monday showing Republicans standing together demanding the current President’s long form BC, college transcripts and thesis at the same moment he is having a press conference and signing the Stimulus into law.
Has NO ONE in Congress read the Constitution and Bill of Rights? Apparently NOT. This entire bill is ANTI-Constitution.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

"All of these were called from November 20 - December 2nd 2008. It is confirmed, OBAMA not born in any hospital in Honolulu County! NONE FACT!
Hospitals you can check yourself
We were pretty detailed in our calls. You can look at every hospital here and call any of them. You can file freedom of information acts, you can do everything and anything you wish. Barack Obama was never born in a hospital in Hawaii as claimed."

Nope, no birth record found of Obama in Hawaii.

If you read the above article closely there seems to be a conflict between the hospitals confirming anyone born there and the HIPA (Health Information Privacy Act, http://www.hhs.gov/ocr/privacy/index.html) law:
"We don't have plans to do anything," said Kapiolani Medical Center spokeswoman, Claire Tong, when asked how the center plans to commemorate the soon-to-be 44th U.S. president, who, according to Obama's family and other sources, was born at that hospital on Aug. 4, 1961.
"We can't confirm or deny it even though all the information out there says he was born at Kapiolani Hospital. And that's because of the HIPA law."
[...]
"Our hands are tied," she said.

"For example, reporters no longer can get the names and other information about hospital patients, such as victims of a major accident. Under HIPAA, a reporter must ask for a patient by name. The hospital will provide a general statement about the patient's condition, but only if the patient is in its directory, and the patient may opt out. Editorials say this obstructs the public's right to know. And one article claimed: "If HIPAA had been in effect on Sept. 11, hospitals wouldn't have been able to post victims' names." Not true. HIPAA does not prevent hospitals from releasing relevant information about patients to law enforcement and public health officials, and in cases of public emergency. Also, HIPAA doesn't restrict how reporters can use information they get about the patient. It just forces them to go to a source that's closer to the patient....

though the fines are steep, the risk is minimal. You won't find HIPAA police lurking in hospital halls waiting for a nurse to leak a patient's data. And no one can sue a health-care provider for breaking the law. Health and Human Services will investigate a provider only if it gets a complaint of a major violation."
Asking for a name and a date that happened almost 5 decades ago is NOT a violation of HIPAA.
At a minimum it seems open to interpretation. Clearly your interpretation of the source you refer to disagrees with that of Kapiolani Medical Center spokeswoman, Claire Tong in the source I refer to. Maybe you and Ms. Tong could duke it out in the public eye. In any case Maya and Neil seem to be fronting for Barack and committing him to have been born at Kapiolani, while Barack himself remains mum in public. Under the circumstances it makes one wonder if one possibility is that the issue is not so much where he was born but who if anyone is listed as the father, the father’s nationality, and what race he is declared to have been at birth.

A cogent statement and one which should not arouse any pithy comment (hopefully). I have looked at the world map and the distance between Honolulu and Mombasa. It is declared that Honolulu to Nairobi,Kenya is 10.742 miles. Whether by sea or air, I could not find out. There is an extra 330 miles from Nairobi to Mombasa.
From Honolulu to Seattle is 2680 miles and we know Stanley Ann was easily transported there. Added to that her best friend at that time must have been her mother. Her husband was virtually disinterested in her well being. Be that as it may, the absolute final question could be the definition of "natural born".
The least subjective definition and I stand to be corrected by more scholarly persons, seems to be a person born on American soil. The most subjective seems to be a person born on American soil of American born parents. If not that, then a person being born on American soil of two parents, being American citizens.
Surely efforts must be made for the legislators to absolutely clarify the elegibility of a person on the ballot, for the next presidential election. If only to prevent a fringe candidate from slanting any result. For, after all, every vote for an ineligible person in such an election, is an insult to the process.
Second of all, even if they had a record, it would be illegal under various privacy laws for them to confirm or deny anything.
Never mind. You birthers will ignore these obvious facts and continue spinning your conspiracy theories. Have fun.
