Live Thread: Senate Porkulus Vote

Posted on 02/10/2009 7:05:11 AM PST by NoGrayZone

I didn't see a live thread and I just can't watch this debacle alone.

Meagan Kelly on Fox said the FBC filed a lawsuit under the freedom of information act to find out where this "lost" 78 billion dollars went from the first "bailout".

Things are getting a tad bit too interesting for my taste!

The number for AARP in Washington is 202-434-6200.

Call them. They may be able to do put some pressure on these dumb ass senators who don’t even read the bill.

I thought it was just placed in. I can not believe that these people can say they vote for something, when they do not know the details.

I have been emailing and calling all morning. I hope others are doing the same.

Wow. You said what I’ve experienced since the election. It’s required several months for me to reach the conclusion you’ve reached.

Yes yes and no

I think that is simplistic. I raised two conservative voters, and on more on the way. Schools don’t raise or educate you children, you do.

-- And if so, why does it go back? --

At some point, both bodies must pass exactly the same language in order to have a bill "pass" Congress. There are multiple ways for this to happen.

For this bill, the approach seems to be to take radically different versions of the bill, one passed by the House, and one passed by the Senate, into conference committee to negotiate a compromise. Assuming that happens, the compromise language has to be passed by both chambers.

An alternative, not discussed but possible, is for the House to pass exactly what the Senate passes. If they do, no conference is necessary, they will have agreed and the bill will be ready for presentment to the president.

I heard that.

I'm so disjointed over this crap sandwich I can't even spell this AM.

If I clean my plowshares anymore the glint coming off them will get me killed before I get started plowing.

I may not make sense, but the spell check indicates this spelling is good.

Megan Kelly just asked Major Garrett—when the heck will Arlen have time to get this out of Porkulus...the vote is in an hour and then it goes to Dem committees. Major says all Arlen, Susan and Olympia need to do is call up Barry and tell him to remove it or they won’t vote yes. So is Major now a White House aide?

I detest AARP but now we can use them and see if they truly are the lobbyist for seniors and will go against Obama on this bill.

AARP is a super liberal organization and they will obey what the democrats command them to do. In other words the AARP will run commercials telling seniors that there lives are not worth saving in a socialist healthcare and they just need to live with it.

I would be as well, but is it true? Sometimes my mind will hear only what it wants to so I need to be sure I heard that correctly.
