Live Thread: Senate Porkulus Vote

Posted on 02/10/2009 7:05:11 AM PST by NoGrayZone

I didn't see a live thread and I just can't watch this debacle alone.

Meagan Kelly on Fox said the FBC filed a lawsuit under the freedom of information act to find out where this "lost" 78 billion dollars went from the first "bailout".

Things are getting a tad bit too interesting for my taste!

I was wondering the same thing - AARP might actually be useful, for once.

I should amend my remarks. Only violence and tax revolt would help now, and both are illegal.

Meanwhile the (Porkulus) law is immoral.

I’m where you are. There is no way I would go anywhere near the city! Madison would be insane too. Oh wait, it already is!

I am not giving up! You are so right about this part of the bill about Seniors and why we need Dr. Coburn making an ad. He may just be out ace in the hole and I am for even bringing back Bill Frist on this one.

The comments that I saw about this bill left my with my mouth wide open.

This could be the wedge issue we need. We need to bombard AARP on this one. No one lobbied harder for Obama and what do they have to say now. We have a little time before the Conference Committee gets the bill and starts work and it comes back for a final vote. This may be the item that kills the bill.

I detest AARP but now we can use them and see if they truly are the lobbyist for seniors and will go against Obama on this bill.

It goes back so both houses then agree to vote on the same crap. So, yes I do think it could still die, but don’t believe it will.

I just said the same thing. Maybe we need a thread about oontacting AARP -- cannot believe I am saying that but let them stand up for seniors.

We need to get Dr. Coburn out in front of this one. I am going to call his office right now.

I told my husband we should think about drawing all our retirement out.

At this rate, it is only going to lose more money & I don't see it ever 'reconstituting itself'.

Bastards.

Two questions that everyone needs to be asked now:

Do you send your children to public school?
Do you pay your taxes?

Or just one question: Are you supporting our destroyers?

Senator Bayh needs a few phone calls (202) 224-5623. Doubt he’ll vote against it, but it’s worth a shot. He did vote with Republicans to take ACORN out.

Likely it's "Club for Growth."

It's emphatically not the Republican Main Street Partnership, which is fundamentally an adjunct-insurgency of the Democratic Party.

Well, I am glad you are calm. I am not. I think there is a chance that this could be killed because of the last minute change to Health Care that was just placed in.

Not today, I don't think.

Mayabe a 10% chance after committee.

Did I hear that correctly? And if so, why does it go back? Is there a chance it could be killed there?

You heard it correctly. The Welfare and Pork Bill will now go into a conference session between the House and Senate representatives to come up with a unified bill. Then this bill will go back to both the House and Senate for a final vote. There is no chance of killing this disastrous bill because we simply do not have the vote in neither chambers to do so.

I’ve considered them to be useful idiots up to this point, but maybe they’ll wise up. Or not.
