CUMMING, Ga. (AP) - A woman who claimed her house was set on fire because she supported President Barack Obama and her boyfriend have been charged with first-degree arson.

Forsyth County Chief Investigator Steve Anderson said Friday that 47-year-old Pamela Graf and her boyfriend, 46-year-old Steve Strobel, are being held in different jails. Graf is in Forsyth County and Strobel in Barrow County, where he was charged with obstruction of justice in the case earlier this week.

Graf's home burned on Jan. 18 while she was in Washington, D.C., to attend the inauguration. Officials found spray-painted graffiti that included a racial slur and ruled the fire an arson.

Anderson says he doesn't know if either has an attorney. He says the maximum sentence for first-degree arson is 20 years. The investigation is continuing.

This article sucks. How is it they are charged with arson if they weren’t even home when it happened.

I suspect they sprayed the graffiti themselves and left a time delay incendiary device to set off the fire while they were conveniently "out of town". A good arson investigator will find the origin and cause of the fire. Assuming that is what transpired, the first degree arson charge isn't a big surprise.

I live in Cumming. I was born and raised here. This is Forsyth County, the very same county that had the Hosea Williams marches and a visit from Oprah back in the early 80’s. The so-called racist protesters during that march were mostly people from outside of our county but of course, we got blamed for it.

We are a very conservative, religious county. We are an overwhelmingly Republican county. But there is a Democratic Party group here and there were signs in people's yards during the election.

Since this fire happened, the letters to the editor in our local paper have been infuriating. The “authors” talked about feeling intimidated by all of the Republicans (read racist) around them. They talked of fear to put out signs and show open support. They begged the paper to closely follow the story and basically keep it on the front page until the perpetrators were arrested. They talked of our “racist” past and how our county must rise above that. It was maddening!

And now, as it turns out, this deranged (liberal) supporter of Obama’s is a LIAR! But do you think all of those Obama supporters will apologize for calling Forsyth county residents racists? Uh, I'm not holding my breath.
