Barack Obama is a man of the people. You can tell because CBS news said so. Heres how they reported Obamas angry reaction to big bonuses on Wall Street.
For a man who prides himself on being cool, said Early Show correspondent Jeff Glor, this was a rare flash of anger, if planned. A tongue-lashing directly from the Oval Office, which is indicating now they will look to change the rules if Wall Street doesnt itself.
firms gave out $18.4 billion in bonuses to New York-based employees last year the same year the Dow Jones caved in 33%, Glor continued. And yes, a lot of the bonus money came from T.A.R.P. government bailout funds, taxpayer dollars.
When reporters asked Barney Frank what he thought of Obamas tongue-lashing, he responded with a far away, dreamy look and mumbled something that sounded like, Be still, my heart.
Oh my gosh. Did he upturn the tables and drive out the money-changers???
While your at it Mr. President, could you please throw Barney Frank in jail for causing the housing loan crash that put you into office. Thanks,
No problem with rich Democrats who do not pay taxes.
Rare flash of anger...
Yeah, I’m buying that one. A guy that exhibits the brains of a ten year old is going to have a ten year olds temper tantrums.
Time to glue down the ashtrays again.
hmmm and the DOW is below 8000 today?
$ 18 billion in bonuses.
30 % taken out in Federal income taxes, Medicare, Social Security.
10% taken out in State income taxes/unemployment, etc.
60% to employee.
Money either saved or spent, in total or in part.
Money saved went into banks, helping their bottom line, making more money available for lending.
Money spent stimulated the economy, buying goods and services which benefitted many people.
For the $ 18 billion, mission accomplished.
Obama is such a socialist class warfare tool. Government got 40% or more of the bonuses. What’s the problem again?
He's a uniter, what can I say? Cool, calm and collected: no drama Obama.
Is there anything about this country that he likes?
The priggish twit who is not MY President, is now making sure that the investing public will have NO confidence in Wall street, while he plants billions of dollars worth of pork spending in the Obama community infrastructure to hire his community worker spies and mandarin bureaucrats, a parallel Obagovernment? WOW thats stimulus you can count on, eh?
Go Obafascist go. We begin to see who you REALLY are now!
And get sweetheart deals for themselves and their wives..
The only silver lining...Reduced government loot.
We need a jobs program for a team of CPAs to find out where the HELL our first $350 BILLION WENT!!! Poof! Vanished! Gone!
zer0’s an idiot. Bonuses were DOWN 40% from the previous year.
Obambi, the former crypto fascist, soon to be an outright fascist dictator.
A smug, arrogant, condescending self-righteous petty tyrant in any mode for at least the next 4 years.
From a Commodity Broker........Many on Wall Street don’t work for a salary. They work for management teams where the business they bring into the company, generating revenue for the company, gets pooled upon which year-end compensation is based. The concept of Wall Street bonuses is a bit different from Main Street ‘s, however, as on Wall Street the bonus is their primary compensation. . . and on Main Street it’s the other way around
so for Obama to label these compensations as “bonus’s is either un-informed or just misleading.
