Michael Steele, the new chairman of the Republican National Committee wants the GOP to reach out to candidates who support gay marriage and are pro-choice. Steele told Fox's Chris Wallace that it was "important" to reach out to those voters.
WALLACE: You are one of the co-founders of something called the Republican Leadership Council which supports candidates who favor abortion and gay rights.
STEELE: Yes.
(watch video)
WALLACE: Does the GOP needs to do a better job of reaching out to people who hold those views?
STEELE: I think -- I think that's an important opportunity for us, absolutely. Within our party we do have those who have that view as well as outside and my partnership with Christy Todd Whittman was an effort to build a bridge between moderates and conservatives.

People, some of you sound a little strict about whom you’d want in your political party. Right now, the term “conservative” includes economic conservatives, atheists, Jews, gays, and a lot of others besides Christian conservatives.
Really, there are so many Americans of various stripes who believe in FREEDOM of religion, FREEDOM of lifestyle choice, and a FREE economy. If we want to emphasize the FREEDOMS the Founders enumerated for us, we need to include anyone who feels as we do about them.
They MIGHT not be exactly like you. And there might be things we need to win people over to, hearts-and-minds and all, but we need MORE Americans who will fight with us for liberty, not less.
I see what you mean about that site sans 'h'. (Emily's List - someone should send those broads razors or that spray on hair remover)
Here's an idea: Why not learn a little more about Michael Steele. As he is currently, not when he made those statements.
How do you free the bird in the guilded cage?
Those are all groups enslaved to the big government special status system.
Why would they ever want to stop being slaves since their existence is dependend on government dependence?
EXCELLENT!
(and we can't sell it unless we get people in the showroom!)
that is silly.
if anything it means conservatives are even MORE important in the Republican party.
You have dinner with the tax collector, not the pious, because THAT is where you are needed.
The is a clarion call for conservatives to go to your LOCAL GOP club and be heard and TAKE POSITIONS in that local GOP.
Steele has no power but that which the locals ALLOW him.
conservatives are needed LOCALLY.

Well I m a long retired teacher, and I can tell you that the great parents you are talking about represent about 10% of the school population. We are losing the other 90% because their parents don't step up, and neither do we.
If by reaching out to abortionists and gays, he means changing out conservative policies...then Houston, we have a problem.
If he means taking our core beliefs of lower taxes and smaller government to gays and abortionists, I have no problem.
Before we get all in a rage, lets see what the intent of the strategy is.
From the article;
WALLACE: You are one of the co-founders of something called the Republican Leadership Council which supports candidates who favor abortion and gay rights.
STEELE: Yes.
I'd say it's pretty clear what the strategy is going to be...
For someone professing tolerance... you are certainly intolerable of those listed religions... yes... for many people worship all of those false gods. Want to call Reagan an enemy of Liberty?... for all that I do is profess Reagan's teachings on the subjects and have offered his very words in this thread as proof.

Exactly. This should be a time of getting right with the base. It SOUNDS like he’s joined the chorus that was attacking Sarah after the election, and saying that the problem was that the pubes didn’t run far ENOUGH to the left. People like Chris Shays, the FORMER congressman.
So be it. I’m to the point of just letting these people have at it. Like Puff Daschle’s tax problems. We can’t stop them, so let him in and hang it like a chicken leg around their neck in the next election. Except the STUPID party won’t do that. In fact, they probably won’t even find anyone willing to run AGAINST O Bama. Dictator for life, what we got.
Nice try to hide behind your admission in post 252.
But you’re too late.
Try going back to your post # 153 in which you somehow “forgot” that Palin had her hands tied by the Constitution.
Your words......... her very first veto as governor was of a bill which would have prevented same-sex couples from receiving benefits.
Based on your other anti-conservative comments, you can easily see why I recognized this as an attack on Palin. You claim you love Palin. Whatever. I won’t argue with you any more over that.
Lets move back to the real issue.
You are on record as being in favor of the Republicans adopting the thoughts and practices that liberal democrats have espoused for years.
With that in mind, answer me this: How did Repubs acting and thinking like Democrats work out for us last November, hmmmm??
Are you sorry your boy McCain lost? Do you think Republicans moving more and more to the left will solve our problems?
You shouldn't be, apparently the point went right over your head.
I was all set to condemn those remarks. But I just listened to the whole video.
In the video, Steele clarifies further that the GOP would NOT change its position on those two issues. He says he would reach out to those voters on “other issues” where we could agree - like economics.
So, let’s not jump the gun yet and assume the party is still headed in the wrong direction.
Dear GOP,
No thanks to "reaching out" to pro-abortion and gay voters since I know that would mean tolerance and acceptance of their views, which is not acceptable to me.
No thanks to the same old policies on illegal immigration. What... build a wall, then give a pass to the ones who are already here?
No thanks. No money from me either.

Post 246 - Excellent riposte!
Get outta here! No way is this true. LOL
I’m shocked Donna that we’re on a conservative website and there are 2 people who have no problem with this
The party used to stand for no abortion, fiscal responsibility , strong defence and yes normal traditional marriage.
I am sick to death of hearing how someone know a homo and they are nice or how they know a homo at their church and he is nice , he just wants to live with the person who they love.
Well no one is stopping anyone form living with who ever but the fact is that they want us to accept their perverted sick sexual lifestyle. They have infiltrated schools, Church’s and now I hope not this site
