McCain: stimulus bill has too much spending

WASHINGTON -- Senator John McCain says there's too much unnecessary spending and too few tax cuts in the Obama administration's economic proposals to stimulate the economy.

The Arizona Republican and former presidential candidate also complains the plan has no "endgame."

Interviewed Monday on CBS's "The Early Show," McCain said that after the economy recovers the U.S. should "be on a path to a balanced budget."

Instead, he says, the Democrats' plan would burden future generations of Americans with the biggest budget deficit in history.

He says it's time for both parties to sit down and negotiate. He says the Democrats need to consider his party's concerns, especially on cutting taxes.

Don't take it too seriously. It just seemed to me you were obviously enamored by the flow of your own writing in your attempt to ridicule the other guy.....

I just thought the misuse was funny given the time it must have took you to compose it.

One cannot be too careful.

Shockingly, I once saw a someone use “enamored by” when either “enamored with” or “enamored of” was called for.

Fortunately, the writer was not engaged in ridicule.

Great analogy. It lended itself to fleshing out in so many more comparative ways.

Thanks for the kind words, D1! Nice to see you.

The problem is that the neocons are really statists, not conservatives at all. They wrap themselves up in conservative banners, but in Reagan's words, "they trade freedom for security", and hate anyone else who won't.

Thanks for your reply. However, I fear it is worse than that. They have no problem undermining the very sovereignty of these United States, in fact, they do so with great purpose... If they were merely statists, They would not be so quick to remove their own apparent power.

Their intentions are global- The whole enchilada. In being so inclined, I believe their plans are closer to the Communists than they are to us, which explains their high regard of Liberals.

Other than that I concur completely!

PS: Great quote, btw!

Not a RINO, Do you consider GWB a conservative? Is he a model for conservatives?

Cedric, you never answered the question.

GWB is not a conservative and is not a model for conservatism.

Your turn.

Shall I show him the same courtesy you’ve shown me in the past?

If so, I’ll have an answer in 2-3 days (maybe a week) (maybe more).

Stand by.

Conservatism is normally:
1) Cut taxes
2) pro-life
3) National security

I have more requirements
1) you dont leave office with two wars going on, the country bankrupt with a depression, you dont make the term conservatism an insult,
2) you dont cut deals with democrats against fellow republicans after you are safely re-elected
3) You dont tell immigrants that follow the rules that they have to wait because you are giving preference to those that broke the law
