A parent in the Clark County School District of Las Vegas, Henderson area reported today that his son, who is in 1st grade, came home yesterday saying that he didn't want to go back to school anymore.
When asked why, the boy said that during the Pledge of Allegiance the teacher put up a large image of Obama next to the flag.
Thinking that the boy might be exaggerating, the man asked his son if he was sure, and suggested that by "large" he might mean an 8x10 photo of the president. The boy apparently said "No, it is a large picture of Obama and when we are done, the teacher turns off the image."
The same thing was not done for President Bush last year.
After investigating this morning, the other parent reported that what the boy said was true.
At least three of the five classrooms have an overhead projector and as the children stand to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, the teacher turns on the classroom overhead and a full body image of Obama, with six U.S. flags behind him, comes up about 4 feet away from the flag that hangs on the wall. The screen is apparently around five feet by six feet.
In the image, President Obama appears to be staring straight out with no facial expression, just a serious look. All of the kids in each class faced the President, instead of the flag that hangs in the corner.
Local parents are up in arms over this situation. Teachers clearly do not realize the gravity of what they are doing.
Well, I live in PG County, MD. If you saw the idolatry going on around here (in both private and public schools, oh, by the way), you might be a little less skeptical.
My daughter who attends a public HS (after 9 years of private school and 1 year of homeschool) has reported some amazing things to me...to include teachers yelling at her, teachers challenging her to public debates...principal giving 15-20 minute long announcements extolling the virtues of THE ONE™©®...yeah, hearing about this in a first grade classroom is all too believable to me.
Oh, and by the way (in case you're wondering), she is a FReeper and she wore her Nobama button the first day back in school after the inauguration.
Late 1930's is my guess. FDR changed the salute from that one (the original) to the hand-over-heart form we are familiar with, to avoid similarity to the Nazi salute.
Ouch
This is cult behavior
LOL!!!
"The term Hitler oath refers to the oaths of allegiance sworn by German Wehrmacht officers and soldiers as well as civil servants during the Third Reich between the years 1934 and 1945. The oath pledged personal loyalty to the person of Adolf Hitler in place of loyalty to the constitution."
"Germany's voters went to the polls and 89.9% voted their approval for Hitler to assume complete power over Germany. The following day, August 20, 1934, the cabinet decreed the 'Law On The Allegiance of Civil Servants and Soldiers of the Armed Forces' ('Gesetz über die Vereidigung der Beamten und der Soldaten der Wehrmacht'), which superseded the original oaths. Prior to the decree, both members of the armed forces and civil servants had sworn loyalty to 'the People and the Fatherland' ('Volk und Vaterland'); civil servants had additionally sworn to uphold the constitution and laws of Germany.
"The new law decreed that instead, both members of the armed forces and civil servants would swear loyalty to Adolf Hitler."
“This is how urban legends get started. Look at all the Freepers who aren’t bothering to wonder if it’s true.
Might be true, might not. Certainly gets people excited, though, don’t it?”
<<<Sadly, after seeing the outright worship at the inauguration, this story is not impossible to believe. I hope it is not true; but if it is, I hope parents bring it to school board and sue district.
Stuff like this is likely going on in different ways throughout the country unknown to the parents—ex. my own daughter...
My daughter’s entire school watched the inauguration on big-screen tvs. I do not think there were any notices sent home...Many students were uncomfortable watching, yet were even less comfortable formally opting out to a study hall. We live in a fairly affluent republican county. The school had never done this for Bush...said it was historic. (I was raised to be color-blind, Martin Luther King “Do not judge a man by the color of his skin but by the content of his character,” etc. Therefore, I found this particularly disturbing.)
I live near Ithaca, NY ("The City of Evil"). I know Obama Idolatry first-hand.
I'm a natural-born skeptic.
It is me, or is his upper lip totally skewed under his nose?
“...statement made without offense to all teachers
No, just a majority of the ones in the government school systems.”
Sadly, it appears to be such (or it is what is being reported and that upon which we read about and comment on) (?)
I wouldn’t exclude private schools either.
I also try to keep an open mind... (not the ‘new age’ type either) something I learned from my government provided schooling, (’50~60’s)... it wasn’t all bad then and can’t all be bad now. (I hope)
There already is a Little Book of Obama sayings that everyone should carry around with them, pocket or purse size!
They most certainly do realize the gravity of what they are doing, I agree.
What I wonder is - are the principals or whoever is above them mandating this? Sounds as though the Board of Education members (any who are rational) need to get on top of this.
And, of course, yet another reason to home school.
I don’t know if the story is true or not. I hope, for my Country’s sake, it is not true. I’m a natural skeptic, so I always wonder if anything odd or outrageous is true, and look for evidence that it is (or is not). So far, I haven’t seen anything except anonymous blog posts, including the apparent original blog comment that got the whole thing started.
Ummm, you rang? (Your comment to me was blank.)
I would not be surprised if some nuthead leftist teacher or principal suggests changing it to "One Nation, under Obama".
That was a parody. The entry for the "book" on Amazon was a dead giveaway of that fact... not to mention that the book doesn't actually exist.
Maybe they’re just pledging allegiance to the mole on his face.
Pres Joe Biden?
And we were worried about Hillary As POTUS
That photo is not from the late 1800s. Just look at the clothes, and in the late 1800s girls usually or always sat on one side of the room, and the boys on the other. There is an overhead electric light, and the windows are from the 40s or 50s, I’d say.
“No offense, but Im not sure that they do [know what theyre doing]
Its called worship, and it doesnt belong in the classroom.”
Worship? THAT has been banned (along with silent meditation... ‘don’t even THINK about praying that you’ll pass a test’), but I think that I understand your intent.
Could this basically be some that are not being able to face the task, either as a citizen or teacher (or not having been taught to do so)?
It is easier to follow, so they in turn pass that onto following generations, et al.
