A parent in the Clark County School District of Las Vegas, Henderson area reported today that his son, who is in 1st grade, came home yesterday saying that he didn't want to go back to school anymore.
When asked why, the boy said that during the Pledge of Allegiance the teacher put up a large image of Obama next to the flag.
Thinking that the boy might be exaggerating, the man asked his son if he was sure, and suggested that by "large" he might mean an 8x10 photo of the president. The boy apparently said "No, it is a large picture of Obama and when we are done, the teacher turns off the image."
The same thing was not done for President Bush last year.
After investigating this morning, the other parent reported that what the boy said was true.
At least three of the five classrooms have an overhead projector and as the children stand to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, the teacher turns on the classroom overhead and a full body image of Obama, with six U.S. flags behind him, comes up about 4 feet away from the flag that hangs on the wall. The screen is apparently around five feet by six feet.
In the image, President Obama appears to be staring straight out with no facial expression, just a serious look. All of the kids in each class faced the President, instead of the flag that hangs in the corner.
Local parents are up in arms over this situation. Teachers clearly do not realize the gravity of what they are doing.
You as a parent have a right to sit in class ANYTIME - unannounced! They cannot stop you, and if they try, that would be my signal to do what I did and get your kids the hell out of gov’t school!!!
You bring in the camera, and you film (secretly of course), so your child won’t get in trouble, if they should get caught!
Could be. I'm going from the clothes and the electric light hanging down from the ceiling.
LOL! No kidding. I'd fret a whole lot less.
God help us.
Gosh, I hope it’s okay to re-post these comments here - the Tree of Liberty forum is open to the public, so here goes, this is from the OP:

First, I want to thank you all for your thoughts and ideas on this troubling situation. The response was very encouraging and it has been very uplifting to know that we are not alone.
My wife and I prayed that God give us guidance and encouragement in whatever path he takes us. We prayed long and hard if my wife should show up this morning with our camera to take video of this activity. We both agreed that we needed to follow whatever rules or laws concerning video taping of children in a classroom setting without permission so we decided it was best not to go that route. We just did not know if this was violating any privacy laws. We also wanted to respect the parents who might find their children unwillingly on Youtube. I know I would not want that without us knowing it.
So were does this stand now? We decided that it was best to give the pricipal a chance to explain what was going on. So after school today we went down there and waited for about 45 minutes and finally the Vice Principal came out and suggested that we speak with our childs teacher. It seemed that the office became dead silent and all eyes were on us so I asked that we speak privately. So reluctantly he took us into the conference room and asked us what was going on? I asked if he was aware of this image of Obama being shown to the kids and he said yes and that it was something new that they started this week. I asked if he thought this to a bit Orweallian to him and his facial expressions said it all. He then nodded saying, “yeah, it does seem...you know this could be easily fixed!” He then asked if the children were facing Obama during the reciting? My wife chummed in and said that when she was here Tuesday she saw a 5th grade class face Obama and NOT the flag. He said, “Well they shouldn’t be, they are supposed to honor and respect the flag.” I then asked,”Why are the lights being turned off in the classroom? You can’t see the flag but you can definetly see Obama. I added that this goes against flag etiquette. I then suggested that this is wrong and is a distraction and that it needs to be shut down. I further said that we did not do this for Bush (I then told him that I was not a Bush fan) and I would even be upset if you had an image of Jesus showing. It is almost like forced indoctrination. I then asked if this was school wide or district wide? He replied, “one of the teachers thought of it and so we tried it just here at this school, it is not district wide. But let me to try to solve this, okay?” I then asked for the district superintendant name and number? The vp again asked that they solve this first and that he would call the principal tonight and that they would take care of this first thing in the morning. We agreed and that was that. I do want to say that the vp was very polite and cordial and seemed concerned. We will see??
I guess if this doesn’t stop tomorrow then the wife and I are prepared to go forward. I do believe in giving people a chance to correct any wrong doings. A part of me wished that I held off on making my original post yesterday until this could be addressed properly and then the other side of me said that this needed to be shouted out from the roof tops so everyone can see and hear what is going on. However, it is what it is and God put it in our lap and I am thankful!
[snipping a bit of personal detail about the OP]
Today on Fox News I heard that Obama is now the “most famous person ever” (Choke!- Gasp! - Vomit!)
Ummmm...didn’t that used to be Jesus?
This messiah complex he has going is starting to scare me.
It should scare all of us.
This must be what it felt like in Germany in 1934.
Yeah, last night I saw that MLK quote on a bookmark, next to a picture of BHO. I was scratching my head for a while...
I'm sure we can contract that part out...
I live near Ithaca, NY ("The City of Evil"), and you can't throw a dead cat 10 feet without hitting somebody who has committed all of Obama's books and speeches to memory.
Near Ithaca - you should recieve some kind of extra pay for that.
“Yeah, last night I saw that MLK quote on a bookmark, next to a picture of BHO. I was scratching my head for a while...”
<<Bizarre? Ironic? Sad? So many words come to mind when I imagine that quote with his pic. He was elected because he was marketed as “First Black Pres,” (of course, he is actually less than 50% Black—he is White, Arabic & Black?), yet MLK wanted us to be Color Blind :(
Owl_Eagle --- fyi
I hope the parents win this one.
What the teachers are doing is outrageous.
None of this crap is going to happen in my classroom. I’m lucky to be working in a public school that hasnt lost its fricken mind, yet.
“Bizarre? Ironic? Sad?”
Yup, those were some of the exact words running through my mind too.
Most of his people didn’t look at the conduct of his character, they looked at his race, pure and simple.
It's worse than that... I live out in the woods up on a hill (off-grid, too), but I work at a place on the far side of Ithaca, so I have to drive through town twice every day.
Maybe I'll take up swinging a dead cat as I go through... ;-)
Ann Coulter is the best :)
Our Leader's Internal Security Force, to be the equal to the US Armed Forces, will be swearing loyalty to Him.
If that happens, will our Armed Forces just roll over like the Wermarcht did?
Hitler kicked out Wermarcht officers he thought might pose a danger to his regime and replaced them with toadies. If Obama starts removing good generals and admirals and replacing them with Wesley Clark types, we should be very afraid.
