Geithner Confirmed with some Repub Support
Fox News Live | 1/26/09 | vanity

Geithner vote of 60-34 (near strict party line), Gibbs' Press Beatings, Pelosi's $300M for abortion, Obama's "I won so shut up" -- The speed with which the Obama Administration is going down is breathtaking -- and wonderful!

I did not expect Cronyn to vote for this crook. Geithner is pathetic. How can one have confidence in him when he not only failed to file for several years but tries to blame TurboTax? Another bad choice by Obama.

I expected Graham.

Glad to see that Sen. Byrd voted no. Previously also he has voted on the right side.

The dems keep their people in line. Lieberman strays, but not on the really important leftist stuff.

We can’t get ours to remain true. And in this instance, we could have held the filibuster for a while, because the Dems only have 58 at best. They can’t get to sixty votes, so they can’t vote cloture.

I know what you’re saying. Snow, McCain and others will be voting with the dems on occasion.

We don’t block the dems wishes. We don’t block cloture. We just cave in. Here we had a natural block, since 60 votes couldn’t have been obtained. It appeared we didn’t even try to keep our folks in line. We might as well have 17 Rs.

Why don’t we explain nicely to our people, that they either tow the line or else?

If they run, so much the better. When they run again, we could run a real Conservative against them.

I am fairly convinced that there’s some game that is played with controversial votes where the “establishment” wants it to go a certain way. The Democrats and Republicans take turns being the one to make the “right” or popular choice, while the others shift their votes around so the establishment choice prevails. For example, next time Sanders the Socialist will be with the majority while Shelby will be voting no.

I must be living in a bizarro world when KBH votes the right way and Cornyn goes RINO. His office will be getting a terse call from me tomorrow.

It's almost enough to make people believe in the power of the CFR or the Bilderbergers. Hard to blame folks for indulging in conspiracy theories.

Corker (R-TN)
Cornyn (R-TX)
Crapo (R-ID)
Ensign (R-NV)
Graham (R-SC)
Gregg (R-NH)
Hatch (R-UT)
Shelby (R-AL)
Snowe (R-ME)
Voinovich (R-OH)

Isn't she going to run for governor? That might explain it.

I wonder if some of the R senators have a dream of running for POTUS some day, and think they can’t if they are deemed to be “too extreme.” If so, they might look at what happened to McCain. I just don’t see how a republican can be POTUS without inspiring conservatives. Conservatives have the passion to do the necessary hard work, but they won’t do it for a McCain.

A serial bank robber is well qualified to protect the US Treasury since he knows all the tricks.

Well....if a tax cheat can head up IRS, why not?

I am sending my kids to summer camp this year and take it as a deduction for childcare expense. Hey what is good for Secretary of Treasury is good for any body.

I suggest we all call any senator who voted for this cheat and ask if we can get a pass on a portion of our taxes due this year.

I agree with this statement except we shouldn't ask, we should tell them we're going to do so....as instructed by the United States Senate. If they're going to give Geithner the benefit of the doubt, so must we be given the same benefit.

Not to mention, the IRS also gave Geithner several breaks that us common folks rarely see - no lien, no levy, no wage garnishment, and no friggin' penalties - which is mandatory on amounts over $5000.

We need to not let this issue fade away. The rest of us little people are the worker bees who produce the wages that the IRS confiscates from us in increasing amounts. They in turn give that money to Congress so they can spend it like drunken sailors on pork barrel projects that end up mainly enriching THEM!

And I for one am sick of it!

Seems to me Graham is the easiest to replace with a conservative.

Gonna have to wait till 2014...both Grahamnesty and Cornyn were just reelected. Maybe Snowe (job) too...
