I wonder if some of the R senators have a dream of running for POTUS some day, and think they can’t if they are deemed to be “too extreme.” If so, they might look at what happened to McCain. I just don’t see how a republican can be POTUS without inspiring conservatives. Conservatives have the passion to do the necessary hard work, but they won’t do it for a McCain.

I don’t know what these folks are thinking, but it sure kills us. I agree with your comments regarding Republicans, the presidency, and Conservatives. I think you’re right on the money.
