Larry O’Donnell Dares Rush To Call For Abolition Of Medicare
FinkelBlog ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 01/26/2009 11:20:43 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Claiming that Medicare is “pure socialism,” Larry O’Donnell has dared Rush Limbaugh to call for its abolition. The MSNBC political analyst and former of West Wing writer was David Shuster’s guest during MSNBC’s noon hour to discuss the flap that has arisen over Pres. Obama’s suggestion to Republican leaders that they not listen to Rush. For good measure, O’Donnell accused Rush of “lying” and suggested that Limbaugh’s audience is long in the tooth, claiming most of its members are on Medicare.

“Setting a trap; also trying to distract us by concentrating on Rush.”

Ditto!

The abolition of Medicare would be a good start.

Speaking as somebody who has been paying Medicare taxes for decades, I would rather they start with the abolition of welfare, followed by Section 8, followed by the federal Dept of Education.

When I get a credit (with appropriate interest) for all my Medicare taxes that I can apply toward private health insurance, then we can talk.

Saul Alinsky's Rules For Radicals #12:

RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)

If O’Donnell believes that medicare is socialism, then HE and all Dems (liberals) should come out and state the truth: “we are pure socialists”.

Yeah, thats would be a smart move by this O'Donnell doooooshbag, if anyone on the right were stupid enough to listen to him, which they are not.

Rush isn't stupid. He can't waste valuable air time on this, already existing law, when he needs the air time to defuse the new plethora of more insidious stuff that oBambi and the Dhimmi congress are trying to shove down our throats. Nice job trying to deflect @$$h0le

said the same
What phony has done in the last week is to imply he is against state law with DOMA and emissions today.
They are now pushing their agenda full throttle and trying to silence leading right wing voices.
When has the president ever gone after a citizen not in power in this country? Never as far as I know.

With the closing of Gitmo, homo’s open in the military, homo’s getting married against state law, emissions, no dissent, etc we are in shaky ground.

phony likes Lincoln, well does he want to go down the same road as Lincoln but this time it is not north v south unless all conservatives move down here it is right v left.

This country is so split right now and to be honest i wouldn’t lose any sleep if the north east and states like IL went their own way so long as all conservatives not republicans move down here.
So long as all liberals get moved up to their new liberal utopia.

Guarantee that in 10 years we will prosper with our laws and they will be totally ruined and many liberals wanting to move down here but will continue to vote like they did when they ruined their liberal utopia

The Obamamaniacs are following Dear Leader’s direction by engaging in media jihad to decapitate El Rushbo. But, it seems many are moving towards donning media suicide vests, sacrificing their own sanity while attempting to inflict damage on others. This is getting well beyond tingling legs and taking the role of sycophant. This is blind-”O”bedience jihad.

Welfare is welfare, no matter what the government program is called and no welfare program is any better or any worse than the other.

But sure, refund the money to people that they have paid in to Medicare and then shut the program down.

Now Socialized Medicine in the USA.

“O’Donnell ... suggested that Limbaugh’s audience is long in the tooth, claiming most of its members are on Medicare.”

Many old timers lose most of their private retirement insurance when they turn 65 and have to take an inferior medicare plan. I don’t think they would line up with O’Donnell.

I really wish there would be a split, because I see no way it can be repaired. I will NEVER join their ideologies, nor will they join mine. Also you need to add the BLUE left coast - we can take middle America and the South?

Medicare is a waste of money. The US would be better off with it.

It is socialized medicine.

agreed I have been paying for some time now into it.

Lets stop welfare for a start, cut off benefits to illegals and those who are just too lazy.
Section 8 can go and get lost and those freebie projects can get knocked down too, hey we can plant trees to save the earth in it’s place.

They should be started with first before medicare and social security is gone.

Unless I get all my money back have paid into it.
Why are illegals anyway getting social security and these benefits anyway?

We’d save billions by scrapping them along with free lunches and breakfast at school. The there is the head start which should be scrapped

Larry O’Donnell is one of a half dozen MSM types whose every statement makes a case for reinstatement of dueling.

O’Donnell is simply taking advantage of the Republicans' penchant for abandoning their principles. He is wagering that Republican leaders will never again publicly oppose a popular Federal spending program.

Having dropped their opposition to the expansion of Medicare/Medicaid/SSI and all the rest on successive occasions, Republicans have rendered themselves toothless and spineless; they pay lip service to smaller government when they need campaign money, but don't really believe it.

One of the secrets of the Democrats' success is that they have the Republicans trapped, and know it. If Republicans support their principles, Democrats call them evil and cruel; if they abandon them, they call them unprincipled and uncaring.

One of two things must now happen: either Republicans cease trying to be liked and go back to being principled, or they agree to become a European-style Christian Democrat party of economic and social moderates. In the latter case, Conservatives will need a new party because the old one will have turned their back on the wisdom of Ronald Reagan for that of Gerald Ford.

agreed and we’ll take AK.

We’ll be tough on illegal immigration, tough on child perverts and molesters, criminals.
We;ll have decent teachers teaching instead of pushing agendas.
We have the ports, the oil, the agriculture, cities too now.
We’ll not be having lazy folk living it up with freebies.
The list is endless.
I have no desire what so ever to help their agenda.

Fed up now of the left telling me what to say, how to say it, what I should think like phony this morning etc.
