Dem Harman: ‘Disappointing’ Gitmo Releasee Returned To Terrorism, But Not America’s Worry!
FinkelBlog ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Yeah, bummer that guy we released from Gitmo has become an al Qaeda biggie. Disappointing, really. But hey, let the Saudis worry about it. Nothing for us to fret about here in America. As we all know, al Qaeda terrorists based in the Middle East pose no threat to the United States!

That, in a mind-numbing nutshell, was the reaction of Rep. Jane Harman to the New York Times report that Said Ali al-Shihri, released from Gitmo in 2007, has become the deputy leader of Al Qaeda’s branch in Yemen. Harman made her mind-boggling statement under questioning from CBS Early Show co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez this morning.

If they keep having that attitude 2010 will look like 1994. They will lose everything they gained.

None of her constituents have sons or daughters serving in the war in terror? No wonder she can be so blase.

Lucky lady, lucky district.

(Wasn’t this arrogant elitist on the Intelligence sub committee?)

Seems to me that when our founding fathers proposed a Congress be a menagerie of people, be they farmers, tinkers, smithy's, etc, they expected that those elected to office would have at least 1 thing in common: a brain.

Sad how much we've let them down.

The real risk is that they will open the way for an attack that will make 9/11 look like a minor incident.

They are willing to trade innocent lives for their idea of principle.

She's right. With the exception of one isolated incident, a minor snafu on September 1, 2001, a group of nineteen al Qaeda terrorists based in Afghanistan posed no threat to the United States over the course of several years of training.

"The Saudis are the ones who should worry about al Qaeda attacks, and so are the Yemenis. This fellow is, I think, a Yemeni national."

Oh, sure, it's only "their" problem...... how many of the 9/11 terrorists came from the Arabian peninsula, 15??!!??

This is unreal. The Democrats are a menace to our national security..... and Harman is supposed to be one of the "good" Democrats, not as nutty as all the Moonbats like Pelosi? Oh, sure.....

It is wrong to feel some justification knowing that the population centers that put these people into power will be the primary targets... It really is.

This woman was on the House intelligence subcommittee and she did not even know this man:

returned to terrorism
is a SAUDI citizen

I found this out in a 2 minute search.

She is an idiot.
Mark her name for future reference when Americans ask, after the next attack, “what went wrong”

Jane Jane Jane- you ignorant slut, He’s NOT a Yemeni!

From Stratfor

Al Qaeda Suspect Captured With Weapons Cache
July 3, 2003
Saudi police have captured another al Qaeda suspect thought to be linked to the May 12 suicide bombings in Riyadh. Zafer Abdul Rahman al-Shihri was caught in an abandoned house in the southern province of al-Namas. A cache of 50 automatic weapons, ammunition, forged identification papers and a personal computer were found in al-Shihiri’s possession, the Saudi Press Agency reports. The Al-Watan daily reported July 3 that al-Shihri was holding a loaded gun when he was arrested, but he did not resist.

Police and tribal leaders in al-Namas had searched for al-Shihiri for three days. Police chief Brig. Gen. Ali al-Hazmi said they noticed a suspicious individual living in the abandoned home in al-Khaderah. Authorities discovered that he was the man they sought and enlisted the suspect’s father and brother to try to pursuade him to surrender.’

Question is- how did he end up in Gitmo?

It sure looks like a lot of cowardly foreign governments DUMPED their terrorists on us to avoid offending al Qaeda and then enjoyed the free ride of criticizing US detainee “abuses”.

Now are they ready to take their own heat? Hmmmm?
