We have discussed both on the dose and privately via freepmail as to what we may do in the future of the dose.
It is suggested that a thread is posted where anyone can post photos or news of George W Bush and if you so wish any other member of his administration as to what they are doing or hope to do in the future and the idea is that this thread will cover January 2009 news and photos as well as being a recap of the last few days of the George W Bush Presidency plus events that took place a few hours afterwards in Texas and for the Vice President in Wyoming.
Enjoy the ongoing Sanity Island for January 2009
Thanks, for continuing this thread as a monthly.

A FORMER LIBERAL SAYS GOODBYE TO GEORGE W BUSH
I’ll miss the man I once thought of as a stupid stooge who was undeserving of power.
February 2, 2009 - by Eli Bernstein
. . . The Berlin Wall has fallen once again while your news reporters were looking the other way, counting body bags in Iraq and actively embroiling themselves in partisan politics.
And so I bid farewell to the man who sacrificed his legacy to protect Americas greatest asset, freedom and democracy. Ironically, he had become the defender of the asset I had once accused him of robbing.
[This is a poignant, beautifully written commentary.]

THE BUSH LEGACY: ‘W’ DID HIS SACRED DUTY, PROVIDED A PERFECT EXAMPLE AND WAS TRUE TO ALL
John W. Buckner, MD February 3, 2009
The end of George Bush’s presidency is upon us and I think a good time to reflect on the goodness of this man and the precious care he has taken of our country.
. . . I love this commander in chief and am proud to have served under him. I feel America is in a better place as a result of the kind of president he was. I will give my full support to our new commander in chief, Barack Obama, but will never forget the man who stood up when America needed it. Please don’t let the war, the economy or your political affiliation affect your appreciation of this great man who was the 43rd president of the United States of America. “W” was true to his family, his country and his God. A job well done, by one of the most faithful servants that this country may ever see. God Bless you, Mr. President.
[Another commentary that left me teary eyed!]

POLLING UPDATE . . .
OBAMA’S JA RATING IS ALREADY HEADING DOWN!
KEY TAKE AWAYS FROM RECENT POLLS:
1.) Obama is now experiencing his highest (media-generated) job approval ratings he has no where to go but down and down he is going! [Comparatively, after 911, President Bush maintained JA ratings above 70% for over TWO YEARS]
2.) According to the recent USATODAY/Gallup poll, Obamas DISAPPROVAL rating has DOUBLED in a mere two weeks from 12% disapproval to 25% disapprove the actual percentage would be higher if Gallup used a REPRESENTATIVE polling sample; however, like the rest of the MSM pollsters, Gallup is currently oversampling Democrats/Democrat-leaning Independents by double digits.
3.) Yesterday, RASMUSSEN put Obamas JA ratings at 60% approve and 38% disapprove this rating includes the LOWEST strongly approve and HIGHEST strongly disapprove ratings that Obama has received to date!
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/obama_administration/daily_presidential_approval_index
4.) Interestingly, DEMOCRACY CORP (a Democrat polling group) puts Obamas JA rating at a mere 55% among likely voters (the only group that counts). Yep, even with 95% POSITIVE press coverage, Obama manages a mere 55% JA rating during the honeymoon phase of his presidency!!

CLASS VERSUS CRASS!
Thanks for the links, DrDeb. I’m missing our President Bush more than I can say.
I miss President Bush more every day. I fear for this nation more every day too.
The video is great. I don't think I've seen any of those pictures, and the narration is loving and shows the respect for the president.
Dr. Buckner's messages did make me teary eyed and nostalgic.
OUR PRESIDENT WAS BUSY TODAY:
Early this morning, he visited a Lions Club Meeting in Crawford (photo included — which I hope someone will post):

The following commentary is the most recent article posted at the on-line Bush-Cheney Alumni Association:
PRESIDENT BUSH’S LASTING LEGACY: MISSILE DEFENSE
By Jon Kyl | RealClearPolitics.com | February 3, 2009
When the history of the Bush administration’s national security achievements is written, one of the most significant accomplishments will be the building of a national missile defense system.
